Questions for PBEM players

Post by FM WarB »

What is considered a good number of turn/impulses per day or week?

Do time zone differences impede completing a turn (of 2-4 impulses) in a timely fashion?

How far in advance can you plan with strategic phases and do they take longer than impulse phases?

If a turn, after the First mobiliztion turn, has three impulses, how many email transfers does it require couting strat, activation, etc?

1) it totally differs. some turns only have 1 impulse, others take longer. My daily schedule is very messed up sometimes. So one day I might do 4 turns and the next week will see like 2 impulses in total. I'd say that 1-2 turns is fine.
2) maybe, not necessarily. I don't even know where some of my opponents are living.
3) I wish I'd plan ahead further. I'd say it will take as long as any normal impulse.
4) 1 for strat, 3 for each impulse. activation and movement are done in one email.

A complete game will take about 100 emails (each way),  so expect a game to last several weeks.
I find that I spend more time on strategic turns.  I also watch the combat replays several times. So "doing a turn" is 15 to minutes and up.   Losing takes more time than winning.  Losing badly is fast.
