Loss of tagetting indicator

I'm playing a battle in a random campaign. I used a platoon HQ to spot for off-board artillery. I then retargetted fire against a Russian squad. I set targets for all of the squads in the plattoon, but none of the targetting rays appear (the orange rays) for this platoon. I tried cycling through the tragetting ray options using the u key, but the rays don't appear.

The target narrative identifies the traget correctly though, and I think the squad are firing (but not sure).

Thought I should post in case someone wanted to check it out.

This wouldn't happen to be in the Reaction Phase would it? Because you can't change the target of a spotting unit in the reaction phase.
Whoops I see it is.

You could of however give spotting instuctions to the artillery then give new orders to engage or any other orders and the artillery will still fire on its target.
