I don't do surrender...[:'(]

How about capitulation then ...... if not surrender. I'm sure there's a distinction ....

You'd know! Lightweight...[:'(]

Still waiting on the "forces of good" in our "New Game". Seems the round eyes only choose to attack along the lines of Field Marshal Montgomery. Only after everything left to chance is gone ..... Patton sure appreciated this tactic ......[:D]

They are nearly in position to end you. Can you remember the last time you held the initiative? March 1942 is when you turtled up and stopped...

Why don't you explain to all the nice people how (all) your CVs in CHS ended up in the ACME Deep Central Pacific Carrier Wash...? [:D]

IJN Yoko 3 Airborne SNLF has been identified at Palau. It's the second assault unit identified linked with Palau. The trouble is what does it indicate? From Palau they can hit the PI, New Guinea, the Eastern DEI or SOPAC. I will just carry on with my preparations everywhere...

Daly Waters in Australia (South of Darwin) built up it's airfield to size 2.

Johnston is now 0/47/0, while Christmas is 0/49/44. VP-72 transferred to Hawaii. I need to thicken up my Naval Search capabilities while I try to keep track of what Mike is up to. 153rd Infantry is unloading at Umnak. The Americal Division transferred to SOPAC and is loading onto APs and fast AKs at SF for La Foa.

Here is a screenie showing how important the South Atlantic entry hex is...

3 PTs unloaded from a supply AK at Luganville.

All the surviving elements of Asiatic Fleet HQ are now present at Townsville.

Because of the distances to the South Atlantic and Capetown hexes (see below for a Capetown screenie) I am having to increase the shipping involved. I need Australia and the South Pacific well supplied. I am supplying the Central Pacific from CONUS, but supplies/AKs are not exactly plentiful there either. I have given about 6 2000 ton capacity/10,000 mile range/12 knot AKs orders to make their way to Capetown to help out. At some point they will be replaced by ships with higher capacity. These ships will make good assault AKs when the time comes to go on the offensive because they will unload quickly.

SigInt reveals that IJA 5th Curved Gun Bn is at Johore Bharu.

Rangoon was bombed 3 times, with a Mary falling to flak in the third raid. Singapore was also hit. Mike is getting serious about Manila, which took 2 raids on the airfields. Mike lost at least 5 Vals, but I lost a Beaufort and 4 B-25Ds on the ground. I am pulling my air units out for now. The Manila B-25s and Beauforts are going to Soerabaya, while the remaining 5 Martin 139s of ML 2e-VLG-I flew to Sinkawang and disbanded into ML 1e-VLG-III. One Martin bomber had been shot down by Zekes over Laoag, where the Dutch minelaying sub O-19 was slightly damaged (3 sys) in a tussle with 4 PCs. A combination of B-25s and Beauforts put 5 bombs into DD Tokitsukaze at Legaspi, causing heavy damage.

Kuala Lumpur and Brunei were bombed by my B-17s. 2 oil hits were scored at Brunei and 113 centres are now damaged. I am still having to put up with low accuracy from high level raids (32,000 ft) due to the fact I don't have enough airframes to risk coming in lower.

Here is a screenie showing the units engaged at Davao. My troops at Davao were raided by 45 Kates from the Mini KB.

The Mini-KB seems to be heading back to Palau. I can only assume that the small NE move they did was an attempt to get clear weather for airstrikes after a couple of days socked in...

The Dutch ML marooned at Pontianak is now 96/87/0 and I will probably have to scuttle her next turn. The fast cruiser-minelayer HMS Manxman disbanded at Bombay with sys damage of 11. Once she is repaired I hope to be able to use her in the DEI. 2 more upgraded USN 4 stackers arrived at Batavia.

The small part of 205 sqn RAF that made it to Palembang is busy taking cadre fragments out of Singapore. Small AKs are being sent to Palembang to recover them to India. All 3 newly arrived squadrons that made it to Bombay last turn are resting for a turn. Mike is not close enough to hit yet in Burma and I don't want to waste any pilots if I can help it.

K XIII (sys 15) disbanded at Diamond Harbour for repairs. The old Greek CA Georges Averoff refuelled at Colombo and sailed to join the Resolution group heading from Aden to Batavia.

Rangoon fell this turn. Mike complained (tongue in cheek) about how I had let it run down. I checked and the heavy engineer presence (not deliberate - the units were static) certainly paid off: HI 6 (21); Res 12 (89); Oil 5 (38); AF 1; Port 100.

Over Honan FO Gray of AVG/3 shot an Oscar down for his 7th kill, while FO Wirth claimed a Sally (1 of 2 lost) for his 5th. The US Army 34th PS knocked down a 2 Oscar CAP over Sinyang while escorting Chinese bombers.

My Xuwen air attacks did no damage, but 3 Mavis transports were reported intercepted by my AVG LRCAP. These did not show up on the A2A summary - do they count as ops losses?

The last fixed guerrilla unit I have behind enemy lines is about to share the fate of all the others...

Wake (Jap) expanded it's port to size 2, while Umnak Island airfield became size 1.

Sub sightings of Kates suggest the KB is back in Kwajalein (see screenie). There are some ships at Wake, but I do not think it's the KB. VP-72 flew to Johnston Island to replace the VP there which has such low morale it cannot put anymore than 2 planes in the air. I have noticed that apart from the Marines, all my units at Midway are very poor quality. I may have to commit a brigade from one of the large Hawaiian divisions to strengthen potential resistance. Johnston is now 0/36/0, while Christmas is now 0/49/42. 102nd Infantry is currently unloading at Christmas Island.

Another 4 10,000 ton TKs left San Francisco for the South Atlantic. I have enough tankers on this run now. 3 newly arrived B-17E units and a P-40B unit flew from Salt Lake City to SF. The B-17s switched to SWPAC and will make their way to Australia as quickly as possible while minimising ops losses.

A Jap task Force is approaching New Guinea (see screenie). The RAAF 13 sqn Hudsons at PM are now on Nav Attack at 6000 ft, joined by RAAF No 6 sqn. B-17s from Soerabaya flew into Townsville and Charter Towers, while RAAF No 7 sqn and it's Hudsons made it to Cairns. Elements of the Beaufort and B-25 squadrons from Manila and Soerabaya headed for Darwin to recombine. No 733 sqn FAA was formally transferred from SEAC to SWPAC. RAAF No 2 sqn (Hudsons) transferred to SWPAC and flew from Koepang to Darwin. The US/Australian/Free French Naval strike force from Townsville sailed towards PM to be in a position to react.

My B-17s hit Kuala Lumpur, but again scored no hits on the oil centres. The Japs bombed Manila and Singapore, losing 5 Vals for a B-25 at Manila and a Mary and a Helen over IA 15th brigade at Singapore. The Japs crossed the Johore Strait into Singapore this turn (see screenie). The SEAC Carrier task forces will escort a ombardment force based on the 2 R Class BB present to Singapore from Batavia. My Batavia B-17 force will now bomb Jap troops at Singapore instead of Kuala Lumpur oil.

The Japs also entered the Manila hex this turn, but have not attacked. Pp 3rd Constabulary Rgt finally arrived at Cagayan after an epic trek from Zamboanga. RAAF 2/2 flight switched to SWPAC and headed South to stage through Darwin on their way to hit Mike's surface ships off New Guinea. I am pretty sure the KB is still at Kwajalein and the Mini KB is at Palau (see screenie), so there might be a chance to overwhelm Mike if I can concentrate enough striking power. The Hermes task force is sailing South from Kendari in case it's 12 Swordfish can be helpful.

The Dutch ML at Pontianak is still 96/87/0. 5 3000 ton capacity/12,000 mile range/11 knot AKs left Aden for Capetown and supply run duties. HMS Tenedos and HMS Thanet withdrew at Aden. The faux-BB HMS Anson is still a few days out. 117 sqn flew to Calcutta while the 2 Blenheim IV units moved on to Dacca. The Dutch sub K XVIII (sys 14) disbanded for repairs at Diamond Harbour. My Calcutta B-17s will carry out a high level raid on Rangoon airfield.

In China my predictable daily raid on Sinyang was heavily ambushed by 18 Zekes and 2 Oscars. 34th PS lost 6 P-43As, while the Chinese lost 2 Lancers and 2 SB-2Ms. 34th PS had to upgrade to the P-39D because the P-43A pools are empty and they just are not tough or heavy hitting enough. Their range is very handy, but I just cannot replace them.

3 IL-4Cs fell to Zekes over Laoag.

My bombers caused light casualties on Mike's troops at Xuwen and the AVG intercepted 3 Mavis transports again. ROCAF 65th Field Army arrived at Xuwen and was given orders to shock attack, as were the cut off units at Kiungshan. Mike's blocking force at Xuwen is very small so I am hopeful of a good outcome.

I received loads of Kate reports from subs off Kwajalein, so the KB is still there or thereabouts. CL Adelaide bombarded Tarawa, doing no damage. Because of the proximity of the KB, I ran her back South towards Suva at high speed.

Johnston is 0/20/0, while Christmas is now 0/49/40. 4 DMs sailed from PH to thicken the minefields at Johnston Island. The Omaha class CL Raleigh has completed repairs at Colon and is cruising back to Hawaii. 12,325 tons of resources are being discharged at Long Beach, with another 10,000 tons being unloaded at LA. All ships will then move to San Francisco. 63rd, 64th and 65th BS flew their B-17s out to Palmyra on the first leg of their journey to SWPAC. The 64th lost one plane and crew. 117th USN BF at San Francisco transferred to SOPAC and is loading onto transports for Luganville. The last of 110th BF at Seattle loaded for Cold Bay, while VP-42 moved from Dutch Harbor to Umnak Island (well you never know, that extra hex warning might come in handy...).

5325 tons of supplies from the South Atlantic arrived at Pago Pago. Getting all these remote bases above 20,000 tons is hard work with so few AKs and such large distances.

The Jap task force near New Guinea was attacked by RAAF Hudsons. 1 was lost to flak. The Petes on CAP were ineffectual. CA Kako was hit by 2 250lb GP bombs. Despite such small bombs, this seemed to be enough to make the Japs run away (see screenie). One Hudson unit will undertake recon of Rabaul, while the other remains on Naval Attack. The understrength FAA 733 sqn flew their Beauforts into PM also.

28th BS (B-25) flew from Darwin to Brisbane to take replacements. RAAF 7 sqn also flew in to exchange their Hudsons for Beauforts, while 14th BS arrived to upgrade from the D model B-17 to the E model. 2/2 Flight RAAF returned to Balikpapan and recon duties as there would seem to be no use for them off PM.

My B-17s from Calcutta bombed Rangoon, but apart from frustrating the 45 Zeroes on CAP, achieved nothing. My raid on Singapore also achieved nothing. The Japs bombed Manila, for the loss of a Lily.

The damaged Dutch ML is 96/83/0. The mini KB is still at Palau. USA 17th PS left Soerabaya for Eastern Oz/PM, staging through Koepang this turn.

2 small AKs loaded fragments of IA 8th and 22nd Brigades at Palembang that had been evacuated by air from Singapore. They will sail for Madras.

Here is a screenie showing a summary of my second day of heavy A2A losses. I do not know where 8 of the P-40Bs fell. I wonder if the Jap CAP at Xuwen engaged my LRCAP during the transport interception phase?

Ops reports led me to believe that only 1 LT O. Johnson (AVG/3 - 5 kills - Honan) and 2 LT R. Thanos (AVG - 5 kills - Xuwen) became Aces, but as Tracker shows, FO Koonce of AVG/3 also became an Ace. LT Thanos was killed the same day he became an Ace and does not appear on the Ace list - I wonder if that is what happened to the Chinese Ace who never showed up on the list? 2 Nates and 2 Oscars fell in return for a Chinese I-16 mod 24 over Honan. The 1st battle over Xuwen saw 3 Nates and a P-40B downed. Then 29 Zekes and 16 Oscars shot down 6 V-92Cs and 5 SB-2s. A Mavis was intercepted later. There did not appear to be any sync errors, so I can't work out what has happened...

My shock attack at Xuwen did not happen. I must have reset the attack when I changed the planning target. At Kiungshan my shock attack failed to dislodge the Japs again, with 110/1 Allied casualties to 126/5 Japanese. Both shock attacks will be attempted again this turn.

At Swatow, further round the coast, the Japs are breaking out. My blocking forces have been given orders to retreat, but the guerilla unit outside Swatow is a fixed unit.
