Battle for London HARD Sarge's version

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Battle for London HARD Sarge's version

Post by Hard Sarge »

hmmm, since Tanker posted first, I hope I didn't tip my hands as to my plans already :)

I wanted to try this one again, as I want him to have a idea of what is going on, and knows what to expect, see if my changes took effect, and I know this one well, mistakes will stand out much more then if we both try one we are not used to

the first run, I hit Tanker with 5 different styles of attacks, and he thinks he has a handle on how I plan to attack, now is the time to get down and dirty and play for real

more of a joke, but something my Asian partner from work sent me, and even better it is true

(working out the details of my battle plan, so I tend to drift and hover for a bit, before I get down to setting it up)

Spring 1941, the Fatman, is holding a Meeting at Karinhall, sitting around the table is enough brass to choke a horse, Field Marshalls Kesseling, and Sperrle, along with GeneralOberst Stumpf

on the other side of the table were the young guns, the Heroes of the Reich, the young eagles, Galland, Molders, Wick, and two, that were Heroes, but mostly unknowns, Peltz and Herrmann, both as much warriors and experts as the fighter boys, only they were bomber men, and after what had happened during the fall of last year, nobody doubted the courage or skill of the bomber pilots who were still flying, more so, those who still wanted to command, and lead there men into the battle

Gentlemen, a lot of work and effort has gone into the new peace treaty with Russia, to ensure that our Eastern front shall be peaceful, so we can defeat the Englanders for once and all, this time, we shall make our plans and stick to them, we have learned from our mistakes, and with the help of our friends and spies in the states, we have seen how the Englanders bragg about how they were saved during the last battle by there Radar stations, this time, we shall not attack and then forget about them, Peltz shall be in charge of taking out the stations, and I wouldn't want to be in the shoes of any one, who interfers, or does not support his plans to the best of there skills, this comes from on high

Herrmann, shall be in charge of knocking out the Airfields, we also shall not be driven from our goal of knocking the RAF out of the sky, looking to the older commanders, the Fatman smiles, don't worry, you will still be in command and be allowed to attack targets as you please, once Peltz and Herrmann have finished there raids

My Eagles, you are charged with clearing the skies of the RAF, as long as the Englander's fighters are busy trying to stay alive, our bombers will be able to knock out there assigned targets, and this time, my Dear Galland, you will have the best plane in the world, and we have even newer models that shall be coming off the production lines, so no fancy comments out of you, do your job and you will be the Hero of the Reich for the next thousand years, Molder and Wick glance at each other and roll there eyes, each knowing the race was on, and Galland was in 3rd place

Kesserling stands and asks a question, what about our southern fair weather friends, I think Belgum and France are a little too cool for there tastes ?

who commands them, and what good will they be ?, asks Stumpf

what good will they be ?, as far as I remember, they will be of more use then your units will be, besides, pure bomb weight, they are much more then your forces, of course, the trick will be to see if they can find there targets this year, last year, I think they dropped more bombs on France then on England

smiles and head shakes circle around the table, as the Fatman gets to his feet, dismissed Gentlemen, get to your staffs, you have much work to do, before the weather clears and this time, work together

first move this time around, JG 77 moves north, they got 109E-4s, so the closer to the front the better, the battle plan calls for 11 and 12 group to bear the brunt of the battle, so I will weaken Luft3 and make Luft2 stronger

hehe

from the Surmary page, I can tell that Tanker has moved 3 or 4 Squadrons around

now the guess is, did he move them forward or did he pull them back from the front ?

since it looks like 4, I would be willing to bet he pulled back from Biggin/Henley area, if it had been more, I would guess he was bringing forces forward

not gotten to watch the battle yet, but looking over what happened from the data screens, looks like I took it on the chin, which was part of the idea, only, got poor damage on one key raid and missed on 2 other raids, and my decoys, misses everything, even my night raids missed

so, I really wouldn't want to be the guy who got to hand in the battle reports to the Fatman, it is not going to be pretty in Karinhall tonight

can't believe I took Ventor to 44 %, greesh that was a key target

almost wishing for rain and clouds for day two

okay time to see what I can see, and then plot the next move in my master plan

(master plan, IE how to keep my butt out of the fire)

good turn, for the Englanders, overall, I tried to get too cute, but while they did what they were designed for, they may not of been needed, but at least, I didn't get hurt too bad with them

I have 4 Bomber Gruppen that need rest, and 1 Fighter Gruppen (a couple of the It's are not too trilled with the trip north)

Tanker is catching on quick, with out me having to tell him what he did wrong the first time, that is a good sign, I think he going to be a good one down the road, Swift is going to have some one to compete with

I lost 15 to Flak (never good) and at least 15 to crashes on the way home, or on the runways, (again never good)

funny, Tanker thinks my bombing is too good, and I think I had a poor bombing turn, oh well, that is why we run these tests with more then one person :)

I hurt his readyness, but mine is nothing to bragg about either, so day two has some clouds in the way, it will be a slow day

try to finish off the radar net (bad part here is, it will be up again very soon, so I am wasting a day, to finish it off, for this idea to work, it really needs to be done in one day, and that is my fault, as I said, I got too cute)

first day should of been pure radar and AF attacks, with follow ups on each (but..., in my defence, I am also trying to see things, so really is HARD to try and test and try to play a soild game (maybe some will read that as planting the seed to cover my butt down the road when Tanker finishes handing it to me [&o])

okay, raids to hamper some of his AF's and finish off the Radar net, and pick up a few points and finish off the Oil targets around London

and to keep Tanker Honest, a few night raids, least see if I can catch some of his night types

hmmm, dang thought I had took more snaps ?

oh well, here is the plots for the 2nd day, forgot to mention I went inland some, to hit some of those targets that OB is screaming at me to move (guess that is my goal for today, figure out his map and the game map and see where they should be)

oh, forgot to mention, I moved 3 Gruppen of He-111s down from the North (I have shown, Tanker, that I got them up north, and that I will use them from the north, so there worth has been set, now to bring them down to where I can use them better)

Luft 2 has increased by 3 Gruppens of Fighters and Bombers, and 2 Stabs

hassle on a 7 day compaign to be moving your troops around, not much time to use them once they are in place (you lose them for day you move them, and are not sure if they will be "ready" by the 2nd day)

Is there any chance of you or someone making a short video to show how the game plays in real time.  I am just interested to see how it actually plays rather than trying to figure it out from your (good) screenies.

Cheers

I am not sure I got what would be needed, let me ask some questions to see what is needed and what can be done, not sure how it is done

Hi, long time no see...

Do you organize "classic" raids - bombers with escort fighters or "brutal" ones: fighers on sweep, followed with main strike (bombers with escort?)

Howdy Mate

I tend to go with a mix, depending on what I am trying to do, not every mission is designed to knock down the enemy Airforce, plus depends on how much power you can project into the area, and if the enemy is going to react the way you think or hope he will

Sweeps followed by the main raids, work better vs the AI then a human, for a human, you are better of with the main raid and then follow with sweeps, but here it is timing, too soon, and the sweeps get caught up in the battle, too late and there are no enemy planes in the air

current game, I sent out 3 sweeps, got I think 18 kills, but lost 17 planes doing it (Tanker had enough resources left, that he was able to react to the sweeps once he seen them for what they were, he hurt them, but they hurt back, of course, G.50s and MC 200s don't do too well vs Spit Vs) (and from his message, he has marked one of the It Gruppo's for death, just as I have marked 609 Squadron)

ahhh, ruff night, this report may be a little shorter and swifter then a normal HARD_Sargey report

Tanker is starting to put patrols up, not sure, but think he may of missed what I was doing with the radar, he may not of noticed that I was hitting all CH stations (I would of planted some patrols over the ones that I missed on and hung on there come hell or high water, but... that is me :)

of course the hassle is, radar takes about 3 days to heal, it took me two days to knock my hole into the net, so it is going to be iffy, if I really got the hole I think/hope I do, plus, since I got a 3rd day of good weather, got to go for broke now, or all the early work has been wasted

now as my buddy Pauk asked, this one is going to be Brutal, with out going with sweeps

(ahhhh, all my snaps, I don't think I took one of the plots, ahhhhh)

okay here are the targets (also see one that has already been pulled from the data list, so next game it would not be there)

if anything stands out, check out the ToT for the raids
