My First Battle: A Bigger Disaster on the Donets

Ya the truth is I got a very underwhelming defeat out of this.  I thought I'd have gotten a better tally because I own the Krasnograd area, held the center of Kharkov (barely), and held a lot more objectives in total including Chuguyev.   On the debit side, the Soviets pretty much own Kharkov city and I got no pocket formed.  I learned the game in the process and will make them pay for this in coming battles.

Okay I fixed the end tally image by flipping it upright.  Sorry for the annoyance.  I'm wondering why it says the Allied side never received any alert units.  They most probably got plenty reinforcements from taking over objectives.  Do you know why it shows only a dash?

I got squashed bigstyle in this game but now I got a couple of PBEM games going and I'm playing the Russians for the first time.  I probably should have trained myself against the AI for a game or two first but I was in too much of a Kharkov mood to resist the lure of email games.  Both games are ongoing wild maneuvring contests, and although I'm doing poorly in the Kharkov area, the rest of the map down south is all mayhem and slaughter.

Thanks sabre. I will probably write another AAR though perhaps about a PBEM game to show some of the eccentric things people do in them.

You can open any turn from you're Email - Play folder. You cannot play the turn again but you can watch the replay again - and take screen sots for an AAR

I'm gonna try to do some more work on my Korsun picture story plus I got a few battles going like I'm supposed to start up a battle for Moscow like today or something using BIN so there are no plans on my desk for another Kharkov report in the near future.

Oh ya, I should say that I was kinduv thinking of doing another Kharkov AAR cause it's annoying when a good battle is had but no story is written about it but I don't want to dilute my efforts too much between fighting and AARing around.

Thanks cesteman. Email games of this battle are quite good and unpredictable. I recommend you try it.

In my story, I made an error by mentioning Stalingrad which had not yet happened yet. Historically, this Kharkov battle opened a gateway into the Caucasus, though the Russians conducted a fighting retreat with the remnants from this battle, which resulted in the Stalingrad battle in the same year.

I'm thinking I might write up another AAR on this Kharkov game sometime but gotta like finish my Korsun story first I think but that battle is getting really bogged down and messed up so my kampfgruppe might not be able to continue the campaign so I'm not sure what's gonna happen.
