Curious about the Rev’s avatar. Seen his pic on another thread and he has that same beard, same benevolent smile, relaxed ‘tude. Hey Rev, is your avatar really you in a previous life?

The F-104 had many nicknames, Lawn Dart, Erdnagel (tent peg or literally earth nail), Fliegender Sarg (flying coffin) being only a few. The F-16 has been called a Lawn Dart but the more common slang for it is Viper.

I've also heard the F-104 called the manned missile. And the F-16 called a JART (another type of lawn dart).

Originally, "Feinder" was a D&D character I played back in college (a Gator also, c/o 93, Comp-Sci, graduated LAST in my class with 2.1 avg). I later used the name in as my character in the MMORPGs (UO, EQ, AC, Horizons, DAoC, WW2O). It was useful, because it was unique enough that it was always available, and folks would recognize me from game to game (altho I don't play anything but WitP now).

Off Topic but somewhat interesting. When i was stationed in Germany we had to go to Sardinia for Deployment
twice a year for ACMI training at a NATO base called Decimomanu. The Italians were still flying 104's and they would play "wash the windshield". You see it's pretty dry during the summer and the farm fields around the base
had great big spray rigs that rotated kinda like the stake ones in your yard. Only the pilots would fly a missed approach and then fly through a stream of water at 2-300 knots at close to a 100 ft off the ground. Therefore
the washed their windshield. NUTSO

Welcome Antoni! I admire your courage at using your real name and city, not something I'd do as Tax collector. Or as we'd say in certain parts of the USA , "a Revenuer" (Pronouced Rev-an-noo-er).[:D] I hope that we will hear more from you. [:)]

In the seventies, the Virginia Air National Guard had a squadron of F-104s at Richmond. The runway ends less than a mile from I-64, over which they were not allowed to fly at low level - so the pilots would come screaming at treetop level until just before the freeway whence they would pull into a verticle climb (always a spectacular sight!).

When I was a kid, I used to war-game dive-bomb attacks on ships in the Pacific with my Granddad. He had been in North Afrika with the 2ndNZ Div, and used to talk about the German 88 Flak.

I used to use Maddmatt (I know very creative), but back in 2001 or so everyone at the Battlefront forum thought I was trying to impersonate one of the heads at BFC (Madmatt). So I changed it to keep things amicable. Crimguy b/c I am a criminal defense attorney.
If I went with "Crimeguy" I'd probably have an FBI agent tailing me at all times.

wwengr is a standard log-in that I use. It comes from my profession. I am an environmental engineer that specializes in Biological Wastewater treatment. Hence wwengr = Wastewater Engineer.
Not very sexy, I guess...

I have been inputting my orders for the campaign game first turn since July 4, 2009. I'm getting close. In another month or two, I might be able to run the turn!

Mine is simply a variation of my son's middle name. Hmm, I wonder if I would be a bad father to get him addicted to this game. I don't want social services to intervene.

Don't worry. I have raised my son as a Phillies fan and social services only visited the house and gave me a warning[:D]
