AHhh... but the game underestimates the maintenance headaches inherent in all aircraft, not just the 4E ones, so in this case it is a wash...

In WITP the most consistantly successly process is:

01 - Get the Allied player to attack you with unescorted 4EB raids. The more planes the better - like 100 is a good number.

02 - Counterattack with Tony's or better - at least 70 if possible.

03 - Have your planes as rested and happy as possible.

You should get about half of the attacking aircraft and lose about 10% of your own.

04 - Insist that the Allied player repeat these attacks as often as possible.

I can attest to this. In a PBEM stock game, my opponent regularly loses droves of 2E and 4E bombers vs. my Tonys and Tojos when unescorted. It's May 43.
