Informative websites you'd recommend?

VF-2, Airacobra, Kittyhawk, etc.; Is there a helpful website or two that you could recommend to a n00b to learn more about some historical details of the forces and equipment portrayed in the game?

Thanks.

The best site is the Australia–Japan Research Project

From the site-
The AJRP is a joint enterprise between the Australian War Memorial and the Japanese Embassy in Canberra.

You can't go wrong ... The Pacific War Online Encyclopedia should give you plenty of information.

For the Marine Raiders website try this....

If you´re going to play Japan read ¨Southern Cross¨ by Chief of Staff 18th Army General Yoshihara Kane at the AJRP site I gave. He´ll tell you all you need to know about playing Japan. [:)]

The distance from Hollandia to the Madang Area was 300 RI (T.N. 1 ri = 2.44 miles). Supply would be absolutely impossible over such a long distance even if barges were used to carry out a mouse-like
transport.

From Rabaul to Lae is a distance of roughly 500 miles. To add to the distance, the voyage was a stealthy one, for it meant crossing the Dampier rapid currents, then remaining concealed from the dominant enemy aircraft – in the daytime, lying hidden in small inlets, river mouths, etc., and in the gloom of night advancing from hiding place to hiding place.

The transport ships from Japan which came to New Guinea were fully laden, but their time for unloading in New Guinea harbours was strictly limited and they could do no more than unload a small part of the cargo. At first their stay in New Guinea was about twenty-four hours, but as a precaution against air raids it was gradually reduced to 18, then 12, then 8 hours; finally it was only permitted at night.

If we consider the point of view of supply, at that time it was quite
impossible to send material by transport ships to Lae. Therefore,
whether we liked it or not, there was no method of doing so other
than by submarines. However, there is a limit to the capacity of
submarines. Even with the maximum capacity of the navy at the time, there was only sufficient supply power to supply a force
limited to 10,000 men.

The main group of the army, 20th Division (O.C. Lt Gen AOKI) and 41st Division (O.C. Lt Gen KAWABE) landed at Wewak in mid-January and mid-February respectively.

etc.etc., a lot of good information and tactics that can be applied directly to the game.
