How easy is it to make this map template do either winter or summer textures?

MR,

Adding new texture layers is slightly more difficult than changing the layers which are already present.

To change the layers which are present (for example to turn the WinterTemplateRR1 map into a summer one) then follow the steps outlined in the SS below.

Remeber to click the modify texture button when you are done.

Textures have names. Some are fixed (each map needs them) and these are colored in grey (implies fixed).

The fixed textures are

skymat ... This is the texture which paints the area of the map outside of the playfield to the horizon
terrain ... This is the base (background) ground texture
wall ... This is the texture which is applied to the playfield "walls"
water ... Water texture
grid ... Not strictly a texture, but allows you to change parameters of an overlying grid that some people like to help visualize elevational changes

The remainder of the textures (in black text) are user defined. Their names, properties and how many you have are under your control. The Winter TemplateRR1 features these textures (these will change from template to template but their names should tell you what they are assoicated with)

Woods, HvyWoods (Heavy Woods), DirtRoads, PlowedFields, LtWoods (Light Woods)

Feel free to change any of these then (remember to press the update button) rebuild your map to see how it will look in ther game.

Here is a SS I made which shows how the map looks now that I made some summer texture changes.

This was a very brief introduction to the texture system. The full MM texture system allows you to make virtually unlimited changes to the textures in many different ways which are beyond the scope of this basic tutorial. Hopefully this will get you started.

Note too that I would also need to update the tree and barn models to their summer counterparts to make this look a whole lot better.
