grahic/sound fx/music mods

Post by boomstikit »

Can somebody tell me which mods are a true must for JTCS? I use to play all the Close Combat games and loved all the mods people made for them. I hope some ambitious people here have done the same for EF/WF/Rising Sun. Sorry... I will also need the directions on how to install the mods, paths, etc. Thanks and sorry for all the newbie questions.

First I recommend JSGME. Jones software generic mod enabler. I swaps the files and makes backups for you.
There haven't been a lot of mods released but some samples of wip are around.
AIUI Jason and the team are converting the original art to 24 bit which helps sharpen it. I think EF is done and WF is next.
Conflict of Heroes "Most games are like checkers or chess and some have dice and cards involved too. This game plays like checkers but you think like chess and the dice and cards can change everything in real time."

I had my K'talia mod up on Rapidshare for awhile, but it's gone, if not enough DL's after 90 days they delete the files. I can repost if you like, or there is enough interest in it.

The premise is close to Harry Turtledoves sci-fi novels based on the Lizards attacking the world in WW2 with weaponry on par to what we have currently.

You can play both the Africa Korps and Big Red One DCG's with it, pretty kickass, still tinkering with the force generation data to limit tanks bought since they are way too invulnerable against early armor, and as in the novels, the alien forces should be scant. I like it, have it for both EF and WF.

Mike,

I'm a big fan of the series and I dl'd the mod when it was first up. Lot of fun. Did I read somewhere that you did a DCG for the mod? If so could you send me a copy? Thanks.

Cool! As soon as I get done tinkering with this last bit, I'll zip up the needed files to play the campaign. Stand by!

Okay, here are the links to the EF and WF versions of the K'talan Mod. All files are there, in EF you can play the Operation Barbarossa North, and Operation Bagration DCG's, as well as make scenario's. The WF version has the 2 DCG's Afrika Corps, and Big Red One.

The EF DCG has been modified to what I would like the WF ones to be yet, with less armor being bought in auxilary forces due to availability of large amounts of armor for the aliens.

You must use the JSGME program to use these, unzip each into the Mods folder of the respective games EF and WF, use the program to load each, and that's it! Have fun, let me know of any problems, if you would please. Here's the links-

Mike,

I have a problem with the EF download. It seems to have reached its limit of 10 downloads.

Are your mods for the new Matrix version of the games or for the old Talansoft ones?

Okay Udet, thanks for the heads-up, I was not aware of a 10 DL limitation!!  I transferred the files to a collectors account, you should be able to download it now. Let me know if you still have a problem.

Oh, BTW the mod is for the Matrix edition of the games!! It is for the latest version(1.04).
