Hack's Plays v3.4.4 Released

Post by hack153 »

The latest release is out on FBMax.com under "unsorted." There is also a link underneath my name.

v3.4.4 includes the completed Coach Davis Jr. playbook. although, i forgot to add Special Teams plays. those will be added in v3.4.5 along with the new Coach Wilson playbook.

Davis Jr. is a balanced / pass balanced offensive, with a balanced / pass coverage defense. It has a variety of formations, and spreads the rock to different receivers. The team that uses this playbook should have a RB that has above average speed and agility because there is not always a FB to lead the way.

Davis Jr. contains a more detailed 2 minute drills (actually 3 minute because the game does not have a slot for 0-2 min.) for the 2nd Half. It also contains one for the 1st half. (I hope it is a happy medium to what people wanted.)

v3.4.5 should be out in the next several weeks.

Also, there is a new template, but it is not empty. You will need to remove the plays from each group in order to use it. I will empty it on the next release.

Thanks for the update, Hack.  The profile mods look great.

Out of curiosity, when yr testing these things, would you mind posting what settings you personally use?  For instance, Constants.dat, what yard-line you kick from, length of quarter, those types of things; I want to make sure I'm making optimal use of these playbooks.

Very much appreciated.  :)

A workaround would be to open the playbook with the MaxF utility set and import them from one of the other playbooks.

Yep...just add the plays yourself in the MaxFB utility, as DT said.

Great to see a new playbook.....thanks Hack

yes, yes i have. it also helps that i work graveyards and never see the light of day!

i am using gary's constants...he would have the answer on what he has changed. i kick from the 30 yard line, and usually use 12 minute quarters. skill ranges are also important. i will add my skill range guide sometime in the near future.

there are Special Teams plays in the playbook.  however, they are generic and not coach specific.

Davis Jr. is a sweet playbook, Hack. Really enjoy the way the QB moves out of the pocket for a better look sometimes. Thanks for the latest update.

I assigned Coach Davis to Lakeside of the Pacifica League, to replace Coach Wilson, and Lakeside defeated Seaview(Coach Miller)17-10.
Really fun playbook to see in action. Next week, 5-1 Mountain Home is at Lakeside. I look forward to seeing how Davis handles Coach Williams.

how are the passing plays looking?  too long, too short, or do they seem about right?

i added a variable to the passing plays based on the formations.  at most, you should only see 1-2 players going deep (near corner, endzone, post, far corner) at a time.  there are also "wait" commands for various routes.  i can provide the variable in the next release if anyone is interested.

how is the run:ratio for Davis Jr.?  how is the 2 minute drill working?

thanks for the feedback.

thanks for the feedback.

I've watched two games with it, assigning it to a team with a stellar RB. The opponent was the same in both games. Team lost the first game 32-3. Won second game 28-10. But, the team was helped by two kick runbacks in the second game that they won.

The passing plays seemed about right...

In the first game they seemed a bit off a little too short, too often, but in the second game they were fantastic. Really moved the ball and passing looked real good.

The running plays are nice...

In the first game it seemed that the team ran at some inopportune times, like on 3rd and 10 at the opponents 20 yard line and trailing in the game. However, in the second game it was spot on, very deceptive and kept the defense off balanced. Saw some really nice blocking to spring the RB. Was very pleased.

The two minute (3 minute) drill did not seem to have a real affect in the first game were the team was trailing by about ten. I saw it but would like to witness it's affect in a closer contest. But, I plan to watch a few more games.

I did notice the QB waiting for an open receiver and was thrilled to see that. Glad you added that feature.

As was stated before, this is a fun playbook to watch. Excellent job, Hack.

Not sure if my constants have changed again or what, think these are the same I have been using all along.
Also, very important......I have made my WRs faster than my DBs, significantly. I edited speed in the maindata so players are generated that way.
If these constants are different than thew defaults, I got some of the ideas from dreamteams

Code: Select all

[CONSTANTS]
 //Blocking
 BlockingBaseLine=1
 BlockingPassBlockTime=3
 BlockingPushBlockTime=1.2
 BlockingPassBlockStrength=1.5
 BlockingPushBlockStrength=0.80
 BlockPancakeThreshold=0.15

 //Tackles. The higher the number, the more missed tackles.
 TackleThreshold=15

 //Physics
 PhysicsBaseMoveSpeed=6
 PhysicsBaseAgility=0.15
 PhysicsMaxChangeDirTime=1
 Physics_MaxPuntStrength=7.8
 Physics_MaxFGStrength=15
 Physics_MaxKOStrength=17

 //Defensive Reaction times.
 DefenseBaseM2MCoverageArea=3.5
 Defense_PassReactionBaseTime=2
 Defense_ReadBaseTime=3

 //Field Goal Accuracy, the closer the number is to zero, the more accurate the place kicks
 FieldGoal_Accuracy=30

 //QB Read base times.
 QBRead_Threshold=1.5
 QBScramble_Threshold=2

 //QB Passing Contants, the higher the number, the less accurate the pass
 QBPassingAccuracyStanding=1.5
 QBPassingAccuracyRunning=1.8
 QBPassingAccuracyScrambling=2

 //QB base 'angle of deviation from optimal' This is modified by the above QB passing constants
 //the higher the number, the less accurate the pass
 QBPassingAccuracyBase=5

 //There are three pass accuracy systems to choose from
 //1 = Angle Adjustment only . This is an accuracy adjustment to the throwing angle
 //2 = Distance Adjustment only. This is a accuracy adjustment to the determined throw distance.
 //3 = Combined Angle and Distance.
 //With all systems, the QBPassing accuracy constants play the same roles. So the rule holds true
 //The lower the Accuracyconstants, the more accurate the passing.
 QBPassingSystem=3

 //These are the fatigue Values. Some actions in the game add fatigue, some substract it.
 //The value name tells you if the fatigue is added or subtracted.
 //Fatigue is a percentage of 100% added for every one second of the action.
 Fatigue_AddRunning=3
 Fatigue_AddCatching=4
 Fatigue_AddBlockingPush=5
 Fatigue_AddBlockingPass=6
 Fatigue_AddTackling=10
 Fatigue_AddBeingTackled=15
 Fatigue_AddLongPasses=5
 Fatigue_SubtractResting=-3
 Fatigue_SubtractWalking=0
 Fatigue_SubtractStanding=-1

Here are my speed entries...I only changed DB and WR

Code: Select all

I dont see any issues with Davis. Looks solid. I really think it has to be tough to troubleshoot a playbook. I dont envy you. Since every user could have very different results based on their constants/ratings/etc.....oof.

My leagues are set up to, for the most part, have high pass completion. Although im getting higher comp % with your books and 11 players than I am with my playbooks and 8 man. The small field makes play creation very touchy. Any long routes need to be 'fly' or to the corners. And those long pass plays need to be in situations that wont run them inside the opponents 15, which is nearly half the field. And this is why im still working on mine [:'(]

Oh, and I was wondering, do you think I would be able to use the old wilson along with the new one? Did you make new plays for the new one, update old plays or a mix of both?
I think if I set up a profile that would play to all the QB runs, it could still be a successful book. A faster QB would be deadly with the old Wilson. Like a Cunningham/Kordell/Bobby Douglass kinda QB.

i got rid of most of the old wilson plays.  however, i do keep copies of all my releases (from 2006!).  if you copy and paste the old plays into the new playbook that should work.  at least you could test it...and back-up everything!!!  i don't think the plays # will be the same, so it should put those plays into the "Plays" folder.

Coach Wilson be have all new offensive plays.  they will be similar but less 3 RB sets.

When I get your new releases, I always change my plays folder to backup_plays, then move your plays folder into my maxfb directory and then export each playbook. Then move the pbk for each over to my backup_plays folder.
I then move your plays folder back to my 'Hacks Stuff' folder[:)] and change my plays folder name back to plays.
I have a playbook called import11, I just import each of your playbooks via that. Then, obviously, everything is as it should be.

I avoid the 'dump' into the plays folder because i once did that and an 11man play showed up in my 8 man playbook. Screwy but did happen. Must have been million to 1 odds of the plays being the same, and the 11man overwriting the 8man play.

My process only takes a couple minutes. I can be a bit OCD at times.

sorry that i stopped when the last message was half done.  my Sgt. came and told us to go home and let day watch deal with the crooks.

so...Coach Wilson will be a run heavy offense again.  the HB will get the most carries, with the QB and FB in close second.  there are going to be a ton of running plays, a good amount of play action, and an average to below average amount of passing plays.

i am really liking the plays that i have designed for the FB.  they are the same Dive and Blast/Slam plays, but i am using zone blocking with them.  for some reason, the FB is getting pretty decent yardage during test runs.   i am going to attempt making QB Draw plays.  this is not as easy as it first appears.  i'm sure by the end of today i'll have it figured out.

it should be a good playbook to watch again.  of course, it's really important to give the HB, FB, and QB above average to excellent speed and agility with this playbook.

additionally, i have been working on skill ranges some more.  i'm finding more and more that agility rating can make or break you.  (i've been comparing a lot of Combine test results)
