Coast Defense Unit Destruction

Post by Heeward »

When units with immobile artillery are forced to retreat will the entire unit be destroyed, as it currently happens in War in the Pacific?

Or will the immobile artillery be destroyed, the remainder of the unit take casualties as normal, and thus become a mobile unit?

Would the unit be eligible for replacement artillery that would make it immobile?

Question: What happened to the large caliber guns in the various Allied forts like around Manilla and other places when Japan overran them? Did the defenders destroy the guns or were they used/manned by the Japanese?

That's a commonly-held misconception. The Tarawa guns were not from Singapore.
