Kates and Vals attacked S-47 and the severely damaged S-45 near Kwajalein, scoring no hits.

The Allies expanded Coal Harbor and Hilo airfields to size 3, while the Japs expanded the port at Palau to size 5.

TK Niimi Maru was hit by a torpedo from S-46 near Eniwetok.

Christmas Island damage is now 58/58/17. The newly arived 31st USN Base Force has moved to SOPAC and is loading for Suva. USMC 2nd Raiders, also newly arrived, stayed with Pac Flt and is moving to Midway to provide an injection of high quality troops for what is a key base. CA New Orleans is ready at Victoria and is cruising to PH. You'll see from the screenie that I have swapped in some Fremen ship art...

TK Francol, with 50 points of system damage, disbanded at Capetown. 13,000 tons of oil from CONUS arrived at Sydney, with 9,000 tons of fuel from Palembang and 2,000 tons of supplies from Kendari arriving at Darwin. The newly arrived 6th AIF Division is moving to Perth.

My bombers had no luck at Taan, but destroyed 2 Bettys on the ground at Johore Bharu. I scored 3 oil hits at Brunei, but there was only one additional centre damaged (now 119). IJA 55th Div lost 13/1 casualties to marauding Blenheims. 4 Hudsons out of 6 were shot down by a Zeke CAP when they attempted an attack CL Naka off Cotabato. Manila supplies: 39,136 tons. Singapore supplies: 92,389 tons.

The Japs made 3 raids on Singapore and only lost 2 Sallys after changing back to 15,000 ft. He also lost 2 Lilys over Manila, but suffered no losses in a raid on Davao.

Hermes: 72/54/0. Indomitable: 33/6/0. 9th FS flew on from Koepang to join the CAP over Soerabaya.

Of the newly arrived units, 2nd Infantry Div is loading at Aden for an initial destination of Bombay, while 59th and 60th LAA are heading from Karachi to Chittagong and Diamond Harbour respectively.

Here is an overview of what Mike is up to in the PI, with Soerabaya details displayed.

In China we have more of the same. The raid on Nanchang is now quite small and is being ignored for now. My success at Yenan has driven that force to a second raid on Honan instead. Mike lost 2 Sonias over Wuchow (flak) and bombed Pucheng and Sinyang. He also mounted a sweep with Zekes over Singapore.

Here is the list of LCU arrivals this turn.

Vancouver port is now size 9.

1,000 tons of supplies from PH arrived at Johnston. Along with daily Coronado flights the supply level is slowly rising. Christmas Island damage is now 58/58/15. S-27 (sys 12) disbnaded at San Diego. BB Colorado's reapirs seemed to have stalled at 4 points at Seattle. I have tried forming her into a task force and disbanding again twice with no luck. She will sail to San Francisco to complete repairs.

BB Lion and many other ships (see screenie) arrived at the South Atlantic hex. They are cruising to Capetown.

An Anson spotted a conning tower off Rockhampton. 2 DMS heading South for upgrade have diverted to investigate, but I think the sub is heading home. 2,000 tons of supplies arrived at Wellington from Newcastle. The latest Dutch Hurricane unit to reform has moved to Charter Towers to train. 43rd US Engineers are unloading at Port Moresby.

DEI/PI/India/Burma

My heavy bombers acheived nothing at Taan, Johore Bharu and Brunei. My light bombers caused 15/2 more casualties to IJA 55th Div at Toungoo. The Japs lost a Lily and a Helen in their Singapore raids and also bombed Tarakan, Davao and Manila. A Jap deliberate attack at Singapore caused 1522/24 casualties in return for 1406/79/8 Japanese casualties. Manila supplies: 38,670 tons. Singapore supplies: 90,890 tons.

Hermes damage is 72/52. Indomitable is down to just 33 system damage points and will be sailing as soon as the last Alabacore is recovered from Davao (I hate fragments!).

RAF 45 sqn, with Blenheim nightfighters, flew from Aden to Bombay. 146 sqn, with Buffs, was loaded onto a ship for the same initial destination.

The screenie at the foot is the newly arrived Lion. I have posted a question for Nemo on the scenario page about the lack of an upgrade...

China

The Japs expanded Takao port to size 8.

Nanchang, Honan (twice), Wuchow and Sinyang were all bombed with no Jap losses. Chinese Lancers downed a Mary over Pucheng. I have added my crack Lancer unit to this ambush.

The Japs pushed back the small guerilla unit North of Canton.

Victoria airfield is now size 7. I must remember to stop this...

S-45's damage is now 40/83/0. I do not think she has much chance of reaching Johnston Island. Christmas Island damage is now 58/58/13.

2,000 tons of supplies have arrived at Luganville. K XVI is ready at Melbourne and will saile to mine Amboina before heading to Soerabaya. GVT-12 reformed at Sydney with Beauforts. Morale is 0, so they have stood down.

Addu Atoll port and airfield are now size 2. Kota Bharu port is now size 3. That should help Mike get his supplies unloaded faster.

A Nell attacked K X at 43,60, but did not hit her. A Kate was seen in the same hex (I forgot to check exactly where this is...). A patrolling Mavis then hit AK Pangkor at Palembang. Damage is 49/25/9.

Blenheim nightfighters (bombing in daylight) missed the airfield at Toungoo. Blenheims and Vildebeest then caused 16/2 casualties for IJA 55th Div. At Johore Bharu I destroyed a Betty and a Lily on the ground. Brunei suffered an oil hit, but no new centres are damaged. The Japs lost 2 Sallys and a Lily in 2 raids on Singapore. They also hit Tarakan and Davao. Manila supplies: 41,271. Singapore supplies: 90,672.

AK Berouw (1 torp), AP Legaspi (3 torps), AK Darvel (3 torps sunk) and AK Vyner Brooke (1 torp) were caught by Nells at Palembang. They managed to push the supplies on hand to over 20,000 tins for the first time but at least 2 will sink (see screenie).

6,000 tons of fuel arrived at Kendari from Balikpapan. Hermes is now 72/39/0. Indomitable is now 33/0/0 but is still waiting for her last aeroplane to rejoin. Burma Corps HQ is unloading at Bombay.

All the normal Jap raids occurred. The Japs lost 2 Sonias to flak over Wuchow and 2 Nates to Lancers over Pucheng. I will now stand down for a while. The AVG is now completely re-equipped with the P-40E, but I must build reserves of P-40Es and P-39Ds for use by my squadrons in the DEI in the battles to come. I expect Palembang, Kuching and Tarakan to be the first targets.

My ground units are having difficulty leaving Sinyang: I am trying Honan and Sian as destinations this time...

I have flown a new I-16 unit into Kharbarovsk for CAP/escort duties after the loss of an R-12 recon bird over Japanese territory.

Dixie is doing some new ship art. He has done some Jap battleship reworks which I will incorporate and show off, but for now here is some of his earlier work...

There were plenty of Kate reports from S-44 at Kwajalein and she dodged some attacks.

USS Argonaut finally returned to PH and sailed to start laying defensive minefields at Canton Island. Christmas Island damage is now 58/58/11. 3 Porter and 1 Sampson class DDs sailed for Seattle to upgrade. S-45 is now 40/85/0. 1,000 tons of supplies arrived at Johnston Island.

SS Saury is repaired at San Diego and has sailed to LA to load mines. 3 Mahans disbanded at Vancouver.

35,000 tons of supplies still on transports at Brisbane will now go to Noumea, which has gone from 40,000 tons to below 20,000. 1,000 tons from Kendari are unloading at Darwin and 6,000 tons arrived at Perth from Capetown.

Here is one of Dixie's latest pieces of ship art. He has done 4 for all the different upgrades. This is the appropriate 1942 colour scheme with the 8 inch guns removed. I can't wait to get my hands on the rest...

Bombay now has a size 5 airfield.

K X was hit by a Mavis off Cotabato. Damage is 41/39/0.

My raids on Toungoo, Johore Bharu and Miri achieved nothing. I got 2 oil hits at Brunei and IJA 55th Div lost 13/1 casualties to my light bombers. The Japs lost a Sally over Singapore and a Lily over Bataan. Davao and Balikpapan were also bombed. Supply state: Manila 40,694; Bataan 23,599; Singapore 90,228; Palembang 18,325.

Hermes is now 71/35/0. Indomitable is 33/0/0 and has had to sail for Aden with 2 RN DDs as escort. The 1 missing Albacore will have to catch up on an AK - The sooner she gets repaired, the better. A Dutch ASW force will sail down the same track just in case.

K VIII , with sys damage 9, will lay mines at Johore Bharu before heading to Diamond Harbour. I realised I had a flaw in my thinking - torpedoes are the sub commanders weapon of choice, so all non-minelaying subs with torpedoes that work should be used for patrol missions. The US fleet boats armed with the dodgy torps will continue to use mines until the situation improves.

45 Sqn flew on to Madras. The repaired K XVIII sailed from Diamond Harbour to patrol off Cam Ranh Bay.

Mike bombed Nanchang, Honan (twice), Wuchow (flak claimed a Sonia), Pucheng, Sinyang and Nanning. Zekes flew a sweep over Changsha. I-16s will patrol Nanning, while Lancers attempt ambushes over Sinyang and Pucheng.

I lost an IL-4C to Nates during an unsuccessful attack on DD Chidori off Bako.

Another guerilla unit was smashed by a Jap attack near Yenan.

Oil is finally arriving in adequate amounts at Vladivostock from Okha and elsewhere. Iwill still need to send some from CONUS once the large TK convoy arrives back from Colon.

Just to prove that the old Dixie art is excellent, as well as the new stuff, here is his Yorktown class CV. I would heartily recommend adding his site to your favourites...

S-43 and S-44 reported being attacked by Vals and Kates near Kwajalein, without being hit. S-44 torpedoed and sank the IJN DMS Hachijo at Kwajalein. She was then near missed by patrolling DDs and is heading back to PH with system damage of 6 points. S-45's damage is now 40/86/0 and as you'll see from the screenie, she has a long way to go...

Christmas Island is now 58/58/9. A 10,000 ton/15kt TK is loading oil at San Diego for Vladivostock by way of Petropavlovsk. USS Saury has loaded mines at LA and is off to Manila via Bako. Various destroyers disbanded at Portland, Tacoma, and Victoria prior to 4/42 upgrades.

CA Canberra has one last point of system damage I can't shift at Sydney, so she has sailed for Townsville and duty with the surface action group there. 8th BS flew their A-24s North from Brisbane to Cooktown, They are bound for the DEI. 2 reconstituted Dutch Martin 139 squadrons left Darwin for Koepang

PI/DEI/India/Burma

The Japs expanded Rangoon airfield to size 5 and Johore Bharu port to size 2.

My Blenheim nightfighters started to score hits on the runway at Toungoo, while the 55th Div there suffered 32/1 casualties. At Johore Bharu my raid destroyed a Zeke, 2 Nells and a Betty on the ground. I lost a recon A-20B over Miri to a Rufe. The Japs bombed Bataan, Davao and Balikpapan. Supplies: Manila 40,633; Bataan 23,488; Singapore 90,239. I forgot to mention that Brunei oil damage went up to 120 centres last turn.

K XIV had a run in with Jap DDs at Kota Bharu, taking 2 hits. She has damage of 25/67/0 and will try to make Singapore. GVT-6 moved from Kendari to Merauke, while VP-102 started to evacuate the base force elements that got the last Albacore out of Davao this turn. An AK loaded the plane is is heading for Aden. Hermes is now 71/31/0.

An evacuated cadre fragment of 1st Malay Brigade is unloading at Addu Atoll. The heavily damaged AK will then steam to Bombay for repair. 12,000 tons of supplies have arrived from Aden.

China

Mike is hitting Yenan again. He lost a Mary to flak. Next time AVG/3 will be there flying top cover for Chinese I-16s.

He also hit Nanchang, Honan (2 Marys lost to flak), Wuchow (2 Sonias to flak), Pucheng (2 Marys to Lancers) and Sinyang. The main body of AVG with be over Nanchang next turn. Both AVG ops will hopefully be loss free to justify the risk...

Here is an example from the last lot of ship art upgrades Dixie did a few months back. This one also has a later bitmap showing the late war rebuild.

When you get your early 42 upgrades for the American CVs, their air capacity increases to 90. Are you planning on adding a 5th squadron to them??  Some may result in some over capacity, but enough to stop flight ops. Add in the Wasp and you will be pushing over 450 planes for the Americans. A nice surprise for Mike. [;)]

Hi Michael

I refer you to post #590. The Lexington's have an extra fighter squadron, which will be removed when the main units resize in mid '42 (if they still do that in this mod). The other 2 USMC fighter units are in Noumea and I think the VMSBs I have on hand are a little too big. I was going to assess the situation on a ship by ship basis for the Yorktowns after the 4/42 upgrades.

Cooktown airfield is now size 2.

S-43 reported many Kates and Vals at Kwajalein, dodging attacks all day. S-45's damage is now 40/89/0. Christmas Island damage is now 58/58/7. I have never seen damage take this long to clear. BB Colorado arrived safely at San Francisco after moving down from Seattle to complete her repairs. The Jap TK Niimi Maru, torpedoed near Eniwetok, has sunk.

5325 tons of supplies arrived at Pago Pago from the South Atlantic. 2 AVs arrived at Noumea. They are awaiting the arrival of more fuel.

2,000 tons of oil arrived at Adelaide from Perth, with 6,000 tons unloading at Geelong. 2 B-26A units moved to Charter Towers to Brisbane on their way to participate for the coming battles in the DEI. The A-24s of 8th BS flew from Cooktown to Darwin. The newly activated RAAF 75 sqn, with Kittyhawk Is, flew from Charter Towers to Port Moresby.

Can you guess what I am excited about for the next turn?

My raid on Johore Bharu destroyed a Betty and a Mavis. At Miri and Brunei, no damage was done. IJA 55th Div suffered 9/1 casualties. The Japs bombed Singapore twice, losing a Lily over the island. They also hit Balikpapan and Davao. TK Empire Silver was torpedoed off Balikpapan by a Betty. US 7th, 9th and 17th PS with P-40Es have flown in to fly CAP. With the exception of the 17th, experince is low, so I expect losses. I had to take the risk to protect my ability to get oil out of Balikpapan for now and the 2 new squadrons need blooding...

The Japs mounted a deliberate attack at Manila - the results are in the screenie. Manila supply: 34,102 tons. Singapore supply: 89,108 tons.

2 inexperienced Dutch Martin 139 units flew into Soerabaya from Koepang. B-25s from Soerabaya and M-139s from Sinkawang will attempt to bomb Miri airfield, which is protected by a flight of Rufes. GVT-1, from Sinkawang was down to 1 aircraft, so has been withdrawn to await new planes (in July) to Perth.

Hermes is now 71/30/0. For some reason flooding repairs have slowed down significantly. O 16 sailed from Bombay to patrol off Kota Bharu.

Over Yenan, AVG/3 Aces 1 LT Dobbs scored kills 7-11, FO Vebber scored kills 8-10, 1 LT Conkling got kill 9 and 1 LT Irwin got kill 7. 15 Claudes and a Mary were shot down, but 4 Chinese I-16 mod 24s also fell.

Over Nanchang, the less experienced main body of the AVG shot down 4 Nates.

The Japs also bombed Wuchow, Honan, Pucheng, Nanning and Sinyang. I had 2 Lancers damaged by Marys over Sinyang, but they later intercepted a Jap supply flight.

2 SB-2s were shot down by Nates as they attempted ship attacks.
