Japanese BB Upgrades

BB Fuso and BB Yamashiro both have upgrade early in the war changing there AA batteries from 8 to 10 giving a increase in AA. Do you think it is worth there loss for a month for these upgrades have you done it in your games?

Is this the only upgrade they get or do they get more further upgrades later on?

I've done it, but at my leisure. I think I upgraded Yamishiro right away and Fuso a bit later. I have no idea if it is worth it, two extra guns doesn't seem so impressive. I think they do upgrade later as well. At least one more. If you go to the ships data base you can find all the possible upgrades.

Word of caution:
Make sure that you know which upgrade is coming up. I accedently left Mogami in port and she "upgraded" to some lame ass float plane CA/CS conversion. Still pissed about that one[:@]

Unless I am mistaken in how I'm interpreting things, you have to look at more than just the AA value on the ship's screen, which I believe is merely the number of weapons on board.  I don't know much about the Japanese hardware, but 20 allied 40mm bofors is a lot different than 20 AMG's, but they would both show up as the same value on the ship page.

The guns are 25mm Type 96 AA Guns which are not particularly good or bad. They are a little better than an AAMG, but fairly weak as far as Guns go. I wouldn't bother with it until I bring the BB's in to reduce accumulated systems damage or to get the radar with the upgrade later in 1944.

I dont depend on AA for anything. If my Zeros cant stop it, it aint getting stopped.
