guess this time Miller was surprised to see fighters on Cap here as I had a recon unit here before and the airfield symbol didn´t turn into dark red when I moved in 81 Zeroes. Parts of the Allied strike failed to locate the target, this included probably the escort also, which again saved Miller from more losses. We lose 3 fighters on the ground and take only 10 bombers down. I guess I won´t see more strikes from Karachi on Bombay anytime soon...

our air to ground attacks helped a lot it seems, the UK division only showed about 50% combat strenght during the ground combat. This still brings the enemy a quite good adjusted av but far from the 6500 adjusted av like last time and so we achieve a 2:1 already. We will try to keep up the air attacks with the land based bombers, probably soon having the attack alt lowered to 16.000ft as KB will leave the scene. Another supply convoy is unloading at Yanam now, bringing again some 21.000 tons of supplies, desperately needed after this attack at Madras. Supply is a daily issue...

Would be good if we could finish the assault on Madras within the next two weeks, the enemy is moving half a dozen troops out of Eastern India now. The troops I have East of Bombay probably won´t be enough to block all those forces coming from the South.

we have spotted three Allied units at Panaji and as we have ordered four of our TK rgts to the base we have ordered a ground attack to attack the (hopefully) strongest unit there. The bombers go after the base force and we´re more or less sure that there isn´t a real combat unit at the base. Some 14.000 troops are reported, we have ordered the 4 TK rgts to shock attack tomorrow. It´s a clear hex and we expect some forts. As the TK rgts don´t have any combat eng we have to shock attack to bring down the forts. If we aren´t succesfully with the first attack then I expect the base to fall with the second or third attack. Panaji is important as it has a 300 resource center and half a dozen HI and it´s the last base in "Western" India so when we take this base we don´t have to fear a counterattack out of this base anymore, while the chance to see a counterattack out of that base was very small anyway as all the transport capacity of the Royal Navy seems to have been withdrawn so amphibious operations don´t seem to be an option for Miller.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Sian

Japanese Bombardment attack

Attacking force 14285 troops, 462 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 3636

Defending force 124985 troops, 886 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 3789

Allied ground losses:
214 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

as you can see, the Chinese assault value has gone down, Miller moved three units onto the road North of Sian to counter my encircling attempt with troops sitting NE of Sian. Looks like Miller has learnt from his previous defeats and is now trying to act against my moving ground war. I don´t have to dislodge those troops North of the base I just have to hold the hex and Sian will be cut off. Will be interesting if he brings enough troops to force me out of the hex again. I doubt it, I´m moving some 1200 assault points into that hex.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sub attack near Kwajalein at 79,79

Japanese Ships
AK Kokko Maru

Allied Ships
SS Pompano

spotted the sub yesterday moving towards Kwajalein, moved two ASW TFs out to hunt it but had no success. Pompano enters the port together with a supply convoy and attacks the big AK Kokko Maru. Torps failed to detonate! LOL, unbelievable how unlucky the Allied subs have been the last weeks.

I´ve gone through the sub sinkings and believe it or not, the Japanese subs accounted for more sinkings and the far more important ones.

Japanese subs sank 27 ships so far, including CV Saratoga and CA Pensacola. Allied subs sank 24 ships so far, the most important of their hits was on one of my APDs. [:)]

Even though my ASW forces are not performing like I would like them to, the Allied submarine force has more or less been unsuccesful.

good to see those A2G attacks, this should keep the disruption within the Allied division high. The succesful attacks by my LCUs should also result in a high disruption within the defending units. All that is preventing us from constant ground attacks is the supply situation. I´m expecting the base to fall within the next three attacks though.

Miller has put a couple of bomber squadrons into the area around Calcutta, seems like he dispersed them into Calcutta, Diamond Harbour and Chandpur to prevent me from taking out bigger numbers of bombers with airstrikes out of Burma. This strike comes from Chandpur (the majority failed to locate the TF) and it alerts me.

One thing I didn´t understand was the fact that he didn´t try to attack my supply convoys so far that were going from Rangoon to Yanam without any escort as I couldn´t really afford the fuel for my BBs to shuttle between the two bases. Two or three dozen Hudsons and Wellingtons could have sunk or damaged quite a couple of AKs and one bomb hit on those small AKs most times results in the majority of supplies lost on the ship. He seems to now have realized that my supply line is still far from being secure and starts long range strikes. IMO again far too late with probably far too few force.

we´re making good progress! Hopefully the base will fall after the next two or three attacks. I have ordered all my TK rgts North now, I hope they won´t be needed here anymore. As Miller has been sending his forces out of the Calcutta area North on the rail towards Delhi I could really use those tanks up there. I fear they will be too late though. I have to block those reinforcements going North, best would be to drive them back or pin them down in the Delhi area.

When Madras will fall - and I guess there´s no doubt it will fall - this will free up all those divisions that are still in amazing good shape to go North and East to destroy the Allied strongholds in India.

The only real problem still is the supply situation. My bases hold 47.000 supplies, which means that there have gone some 200.000 supplies to my air and mostly ground units! [X(] That´s a hell a lot! 10% of the total available supply for the whole map have already been used in this invasion of India! [X(] And if we don´t take a bigger Allied supply depot soon there has to come 250.000 more supply, but at the moment I have no clue where to take it from! My supply levels are not really sufficient at none of my fronts and it will take half a year to bring my frontline supply depots to the desired levels.

A victory in India and China would make my supply levels grow pretty fast I guess as a) stopping the ground war will mean far less supplies being used and b) especially India will support the Japanese Empire with a lot of supplies

Ground combat at Sian

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 185218 troops, 2352 guns, 13 vehicles, Assault Value = 3634

ouch, but this was a necessary attack. I expected to see the forts being high again, this big number of Chinese div/corps has enough eng to build up the forts in no time. All our troops were 100% combat ready so we could afford this attack with only one goal: burn Chinese supplies! I hope that it takes a lot of supplies when 125.000 Chinese troops have to defend against one of our attacks. Four of our divisions have to be rotated out now as the losses were pretty excessive. 8 of our divisions have nearly 10% of their troops disabled now but it should not be much of a problem to bring them back to strenght again as Homan is well supplied and has enough support squads.

When the ring around Sian is closed we will do more and more attacks, hopefully seing the Chinese supply depots being depleted soon. Without supplies, the base has no chance and we will destroy 125.000 Chinese troops. Expected time frame until Sian will fall: 3-4 months.

[&o] BANZAI! Our TK rgts were once again succesful! Panaji was defended by the Panaji base force, a full aviation rgt and parts of another RAF aviation rgt. I guess the full aviation rgt arrived just a couple of days ago as a reinforcement, this is bad luck for Miller.

Without combat troops, the Allied had no chance to hold off the attack in open terrain and nearly 15.000 Allied troops are POWs now. And the next good news: we captured the 300 resource center 100% undamaged!!!!

The Allied lost 250 points for ground losses today, now at 10.679.

Those units attacking Madras will recover very quickly any losses........most should be disabled. 1500 supply per day pretty much assures victory.......60,000 supply per month. That is just what has been captured so far. You have it made now. You should not have to import any more supply. Unless you want to keep the very high tempo.

But to use just what is in country right now, you can pause for a few days, reshuffle units etc and then make your pushes.......India is so big, and there are not nearly enough units to stop you.

it does look better now with Panaji, Bombay and Ahmadabad´s resources secured, considering the huge amounts my troops sucked up in two months of the ongoing assault on India then this is not even half of what we needed per month. I hope to see my supply needs to look better when the battle for Madras is over though. A couple of weeks later, the assault on Karachi will start and my needs will increase again.

What we also need is more fuel at Bombay to feed the IJN battlewaggons to do constant bombardments of Karachi. We will also have to take the East of India and therefor I´m still sending AKs full of supply to Yanam, hopefully soon to Madras as I don´t want to see any assault being stopped due to not having enough supply on hand.

And I definetely want this adventure being succesfully ended as soon as possible as I need those Southern Area divisions elsewhere.

just thinking about how useless Allied subs have been the last couple of months, Herring puts 2 torps into one of my precious big TKs just South of Japan. The TK is heavily burning but has a chance to survive, amazing after two torp hits. It will arrive at Tokyo tomorrow and will be disbanded into a level 9 port with a nav HQ, two AR and a big ship repair yard. SS Herring also entered Tokyo today. Three DD ASW TFs will go there tomorrow also.

Even 8 escorts didn´t prevent the sub from attacking. I´m really cautious with the most important ships in my arsenal but how many more escorts should I use to guard my tankers?

I would guess Miller doesn't have many troops at Karachi, seeing how he tried to race his units there.  With 18th UK in Burma IIRC, and 2nd UK soon to be wiped away at Madras, and many indian divs here and there, you might be a bit pessimistic about the "long siege of Karachi".  Do you have available units in the north in sufficient numbers to push to Karachi while still holding Ahmadabad ?

great victory for you, "chris san". invading india alone would be a logistical nightmare for me and to preform such na "blitzkrieg" there is even more impresive.

when the japs capture karatchi, whats with all the UK reinforcements? are they gone for ever or will they be redirected to another port?

if paul does not get anything new from UK, you should win the entire war.

at the moment recon tells us about 8 units at Karachi, but only some 30.000 troops and normally you get a higher troop number than there really are, so Karachi seems to be lightly defended. Miller is trying to move perhaps half a dozen units towards Karachi but most of them are somewhere around Delhi now or further South and it looks like I can block them. So at the moment it looks pretty good. My tanks are moving North and should be in the area within the next 10-14 days, movement with tanks on the railroads is pretty fast.

I can only block Karachi at the moment, not to think about an assault before my Madras troops have arrived.

all UK reinforcements will get stucked in the reinforcement list, which means they all move down to 1 day and hold there. As soon as Karachi or Bombay is freed by the Allied, all those troops, ships and aircraft pop up immediately.

Even if I can completely knock out the British in India I´m far from winning the entire war. If you mean auto victory, yes, but I wouldn´t need a single Indian base to achieve that. And I don´t care about autovictory if it means stopping the game. It´s nice, but my strategy isn´t pointed on an autovictory and I don´t expect to see the game ending just because I achieve an autovictory. But winning the war is out of scope for the Japanese, the US will still crush all my defensive positions from 44 (at the latest) on...

As it stands now, I can´t see a single chance to see Miller avoiding a Japanese autovictory. He must be lucky to see the point ratio being below 6:1 for the Japanese in 1/43.

we cross the river towards Yenen and the two enemy corps hold. There must be a HQ also in the hex as we spot three units but during the combat replay we only see the two inf units. Wooden hex and forts that can´t be brought down (IMO bug that you can´t destroy forts outside bases... or just overlooked?) will make it hard to overcome those two corps here...

BANZAI!!!!

After a long and bloody battle, Madras falls today! This is a great and important victory in India, at the moment I´m really confident to take out the whole subcontinent as this victory in the South now frees up nearly 4000 assault points to be thrown onto the remaining enemy units/bases. We will now of course focus on Karachi with most troops going there. But of course we won´t send everything there as the South still has to be defended if a couple of Allied units march in from the East (I doubt it as Miller seems to be going North but who knows). With the troops up North already and the TK rgts arriving there soon, we will be able to succesfully block the enemy from reinforcng Karachi and we will be able to attack Karachi with the same assault value we had to take Madras, so I will launch the attack on Karachi with around 4.000 assault points.

Madras didn´t have big supply depots, only 10.000 supplies captured, but we were able to also capture 65.000 fuel which will be needed as I will bring in some heavy IJN units to take out Ceylon´s airfields.

The enemy lost 750 points for ground losses today, now at 11.543! [8D]

one of my previously hit TK sunk at Tokyo. Fire levels were to high and it turned out to be too much for the precious ship. Losing one of the big TK is a disaster in Nikmod as the capacity was reduced by 1/3 compared to stock with the same number of TK. This means I´ve got now a tanker capacity like I would have in stock somewhen around early 44 if the subs would have done a good job.

not much action now, all eyes are on India at the moment. The Allied and Japanese troops both seem to race towards Karachi with the Japanese having an advantage at the moment.

But this time we torch a good number of enemy ac on the ground. Of course we suffer op losses again, together with the flak losses we lose 5 bombers again. This resulted in 5 crews lost also... [:(] Needless to say that the Zero pilot is dead too...

Very good news from Madras indeed.  I hope your LCUs were not shredded by the defence there.

With India conquered, China subdued, and maybe (who know) no more USSR in Siberia, you might not be able to completely hold away the USN, but you'll have much more assets to use, from LCUs to aircraft, to supply, to shipping, more HI/ressources/oil, etc.  You'll be hard to push back... and this foretells much fun for the readers.[:)]

ahh, so you recommend me to invade Russia also? [;)]

Knocking out India and therefore having this front secured until really late in the game when the US and Australian forces decide to retake it is a big advantage, no doubt. Knocking out China or better say reducing it into an area not big enough to supply the 100+ Chinese units is also a big advantage as you don´t have to fear the Chinese hordes breaking out sometime in 44. But all those troops on the continent in China and Mandchuko are restricted commands so even if I would completely conquer India, China and Russia - LOL - then I couldn´t use those units for a defense against the US and Aussie forces as I can´t lift those restricted command units out into a defensive line in the Pacific or SRA.

I will still be "stuck" with the Southern Area command div/bgd I have now and the reinforcements of course. And a couple of restricted command units I will buy out with political points. Supply will be plenty around I guess, also resources won´t be a problem. Oil still stays the same problem with my tankers being probably the bottleneck. The expected Allied bombing campaign against the Home Ilsands will still have nearly the same impact as if I wouldn´t conquer India as I´m only producing aircraft and engines in Japan. And aircraft/engines will probably be the numero uno target for the B-29.

The biggest advantage is to not having to fear the British/Indian offensive on Burma/Malaya in early 44.
