Downloading a Patch-how

This sounds very embaressing but anyway once you downlad a patch [for the new world war one game],how do you apply it to repain the bugs in the game. Sorry for sounding like a dolt but i have never been all the computer savey, so im kind of lost in fact i bought a new ccomputer months ago, got the internet and never used it until my cousin from switzerland sent me aegods-american civilwar and the world war one game-which got me hooked on playing the games well the american civil war anyway the world war one game seems to have alot of problems. So if anyone can take mercy on my lack of computer knowledge i would apreciate it.
