WWI map

This revised and updated turn-based grand strategy game from the team at AGEOD brings players back to World War I, including both the Eastern and Western fronts and over 4 campaigns and 10 scenarios. As either a member of the Central Powers, the Entente or a neutral nation, players will confront the epic gauntlet of military and political challenges that faced the likes of Kitchener, Joffre, Luddendorf, Clemenceau, Czar Nicholas II or Enver Pasha.

WWI map

Post by micha1100 »

I tried the demo but were put off from buying the game already by looking at the map.
The single hexes (or areas or whatever they are called) are so big that it's impossible for me to get a proper overview of the situation in the differnet theatres (and the little overview map is much too small to be of any use for that). I did not yet try to increase the screen resolution (I hate to mess with my settings), does this change anything?
But what irritates me most is that the map of Europe seems to be turned sideways. I know it does not actually influence gameplay but it feels so strange to see everything in different places than usual that to me it simply does not feel like Europe anymore but some hypothetical land. Or is there any way to turn the map?

Hi micha1100!

May I ask which screen resolution you are using?
Actually I think the overview about the map is quite good if you zoom out. [:)]

Yes, the map orientation is irritation for some players, however one get used to it. [:)]
You can't turn the map, sorry.

Cheers

in respect of the map orientation, I have come accustomed to it and it doesn't even enter my thinking now. I simply know that Russia is North, Italy to the East etc. I too thought it would be an issue and initially it was, but when I start a game now, I don't even think about it anymore.

...

I use a screen resolution of 1024 x 768.
Do you by "zoom out" mean to change the resolution or is there a zoom feature I missed so far?

Yes, sure there is a zoom in and zoom out feature!
It works with the mouse wheel or the page up/page down keys.
