Breaking the lines

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Breaking the lines

Post by Dobey455 »

Alot of posts talk about breaking out of Narmandy or Italy early or, as the Germans, delaying that. What is this based on?
For example, if I am playing as the Allies and want to try to break out of Normandy ahead of schedule do I concerntrate on the Ground units or industry that supports them (ie ammo and fuel etc.)
What should I target to assist my ground troops.

with out a lot of spying or cheating, it would be almost undoable to take out all of the ARM sites that add to the troops, and you would have to really start early with this idea, as the stockpile will start building almost from day one

the lines themselfs

as far as I know, we have never seen a single line, break, there are always enough extra troops, (divs) to replace anybody who gets pushed back

the only line that can be broken, is the double line and that shows up in Normady

and again, I am the only one we know of, who has ever gotten it to break before time, and I got lucky, was messing around, so bombed some troops before the landings, and ended up getting a early landing, which hit the troops I had just hit, and drove two of them back, so basicly, I ended up the first day, with 2 Divs in the first line, before the line could form, and then poured almost everything I had, into the 4 Ge Divs that my 2 could touch, along with hitting anything that came in for reinforcements, a number of times, I drove units out of the 2nd line, only to have them be replaced, caught onto that idea, and started to hammer the back up Divs as HARD as I was hitting the Divs in the line, finally, one got pushed back and nothing was able to move forward to replace it, and I got into the 2nd line, and then was able to break the line and start the break out, way early

Very HARD to do, and needs a lot of luck, plus even one day of bad weather, will screw up the whole thing, and since, you do not know when the Ground troops are going to attack, or which enemy they are going to attack, you have to hammer everything across the board

(and, while I see it, seen it as a clean win, I was also using what later was found out to be a explot, and that has been corrected, so with out that explot, I am not sure I could of done it, or do it again)
