A Simple Command
“Captain Glover! Orders just came in!” Glover walked over to his radioman and took the note from him. “Doesn’t sound very fun, sir.” “Is it ever?” Glover asked. Capt. Glover read the note and climbed up on a hedgerow to scan his objectives. “I don’t see anything, but they gotta be out there,” he mutters. “Excuse me, sir?” his 2nd in command, Capt. Brors asked. “Captain, ready the troops.” “Yes, sir!” “See the hedgerow over there? Beyond that there is a field. We need to secure both.” “No problem, sir! The men have been itching for a fight.”
Captain Brors called the men together and went over their objectives and what to except. The scouts headed out first as usual. “Sir! Sgt Sullivan reports contact with an enemy bunker!” “Any losses?” “Yes sir, Private Marks was hit.” “ Smoke them!” Smoke shell started to arc overhead, and land perfectly around the recon squad. “Sir! Sgt Evans also reports a bunker. He says they haven’t been spotted yet.” “Good. Tell him to stay put! Have our 60mm mortar start shelling it.” “Yes, sir!” The 60 shells started to land around the bunker, and then the fire got more accurate. Back in the north the smoke fell around the recon squad giving them some cover. Then, without warning, a crack of a Kar 98 followed by a long burst of a Thompson echoed across the field. The two noises continued for a few seconds. Glover looks in the direction of the sound and sees a body falling from a tree. “Snipers, he groans, any one hurt?” “Sully is hurt along with another killed.” “Smoke the other bunker and order Evans to carefully flank it.” “Yes, sir!” “Sir, 2Lt Campbell had found a rifle pit!” “Can he smoke or destroy it?” “Uhm…. He can smoke it sir!” “Very well.” Glover stands and watches the squad toss a smoke grenades and skirt around the pit. Then a shrill whistling fill the air and explosions rock the ground has the Germans shell the advancing squads. Glover stands again to see the effect of the smoke around the bunkers. Happy that they are shrouded, he orders the remaining men to advance behind the recon squads. “Sir!, Lt Campbell has taken one of his objectives!” “Order the 4.2 mortar to fire smoke between him and the next objective.” “Sir, the last barrage used the last of the smoke.” “Well then, have both the 4.2 and the 60 to fire on the bunker closest to Sgt Sullivan.” “Yes, sir!” More German mortar shells land among the troops, making Glove glad he was back in his HQ post, but wishing he could be out front leading is men. Glover peers through the smoke and sees a man from Evans squad run toward the bunker and hurl something in the air. The satchel charge land in the bunker and Glover starts counting to 20, but the charge blows at 7. The bunker erupts into flames, has a cheer goes through the company.
As 2nd Lt Iverson’s squad in 2nd Platoon advances behind the recon a MG opens up on them. They spot another rifle pit as they dive for cover. Two 30cal MG supporting the advance open fire. Both gunners hose the pit. The men in the pit try to return fire but the incoming fire forces them to keep their heads down. Suddenly the pit bursts into flames. The gunners look in awe at the fire that had once been a fortification. Brors turns to Glover, “At least Lady Luck is on our side.” Glover nods. “Sir, 1st Platoon reports enemy troops and a new bunker!” “Have our mortars fire on the Kraut troops..” “Yes, sir!” While advance Lt Campbell hears a bullet go whizzing by his ear. He spins and fires his Thompson at the sniper. While 2nd Platoon advances 81mm mortars start falling around them, they bravely keep attacking. The sniper fires again at Campbell but misses. The bullet strikes the point man in the lower back. The entire squad turns and hoses the area where the sniper is. A man in a 2nd Platoon squad sees the sniper and fires a rifle grenade at him. It hits the sniper squarely in the chest.
Sgt Sullivan chases the fleeing Germans across the next hedgerow when the squad disperses. Glover advances behind his men pleased that the attack is going so well. A 30 cal MG notices another rifle pit and a crewman calls over to a nearby squad. The squad rushes over and tosses a satchel charge in. The Germans toss it back at the men. “Order pur 60 to fire now that pit.” “Yes, sir! Sir! Several of our men say they can hear German voices in the distance!”
“Sgt Evans has found two more bunkers!” “Very well continue as planned.” “Sir, the Krauts our counter attacking in the north! Lt Campbell squad mauled one of the FJ squads but there is at least three more plus an MG42!” “Tell the men to dig in and watch for more enemies trying to flank our positions.” “Yes, sir!”
“Sir we have destroyed all but one bunked and the counterattack in the north is broken for now, but the Germans shelled our southern flank.” “Losses?” “Two men out of Sgt Koonces’ squad.” “All we have to do now is hold.” “Yes, sir!”
“Sir the Krauts attacked again, and we lost one man.” “Ok, tell them to hold tight!”
Glover looks to the south just in time to see a satchel charge sail through the air into the last bunker. With a Kalbaaaam the bunker’s sandbag wall caved in. Captain Glover couldn’t help but smile as the sound rolled over him. “The day is almost over.”

Some suggestions
Hades
I had never played the senario before so I had a little difficulty figuring out what was going on in the beginning. This will happen often. With my AAR's I assume that the person reading it has not played the senario I am playing and give background detail. Like time period, what we are going to do. Much of this can be stolen from the discription in the opening of the senario. This sets the mood and gets everyone up to speed in what is going on. Back ground also gives your AAR more of a story feel. This tends to get the readers interested and hopfully excited enough about your AAR that they want to go and play that senario.
In my AAR's I tend to skip a line and start a new paragraph to show the passage of time. I do this instead of saying Turn 2 -, Turn-3, and such. Again this helps the reader along in realizing time has passed without making your AAR mundane and again makes the AAR more like a story.
Pictures tell a thousand words. You can get Hypersnap for free. You need to change the settings after you down load it so that it will work with Direct X but then you just open up Hypersnap, play your senario and hit print screen button, then alt tab and Hypersnap will have caught the screen print. Save it as a .gif file, they work the best. When you post there is an attach file line on the bottom of your post, just browse and click on the pic.gif you have saved and it will upload the picture. I also like to open the picture before I post it to make alterations and adjustments.
Also give the designer of the senario thier Cudos. He/She put a lot of work into making the senario that you are playing and they should get a special thank.
Great work and I look forward to seeing more AAR's from you

Thanks. Well I didn't think I could write one either. I'm thinking of starting a new one. Ideas?
