Question about processor usage

The 2x3 games I own (WitP and WBTS), while both turn-based, seem to eat up processor cycles while doing what should be "nothing" - just sitting there with no movement on screen. This results in a hot laptop and shortened battery life.

What is witp doing that requires all this processor usage, and is there any hope of it being fixed in AE?

Oh yeah, is it done yet?
