Mine is the unit crest and name of the greatest regiment in the US Army. Has served longer than any other on continuous active duty. On duty since 1834 till today.
My uncle served in the 16th regiment in WW2. He might differ. Mine is the result being a big fan of the C. S. Forester Hornblower series when I was a kid. Still have those books I bought..
i tried long time ago but couldn't get into them. i might, now that you bring this up, take one out and give it another try when i hit the library ..
Nothing exciting really, dates back to when I was gonna get a hotmail account (guess what it is [:D]). Used my first name and the lowest possible number (again guess how many with the same first name as me allready had a hotmail account by then [:D]).
The avatar is due to the fact that I only discovered matrixgames and these forums when it was announced that MWiF was going to be developed here (talk about luck, as I now own several games from matrixgames, and am more than pleased with most of them (one exception)). So, as some of the other guys on the MWiF forums started using some über WiF counters as avatars I thought "what the heck, I am not gonna use a Mannstein, Yamato, Iowa etc counter. I will use one that shows my nationality, and said nationality's fighting ability during WWII [;)]".
My login name reflects what it looks like when I try to play first-person-shooters. I suck at FPS games and my game character usually stumbles slowly accross the map, neglecting cover and finding himself killed time and again by unseen enemies - I just present a large, slow target... [/align]
"I propose to fight it out on this line if it takes all summer."-Note sent with Congressman Washburne from Spotsylvania, May 11, 1864, to General Halleck. - General Ulysses S. Grant
The coolest combat commander ever. It helped he was played by one of the coolest actor ever, Sir Anthony Hopkins.
Wickes, the batman (packing for the paradrop into Holland): "Sir, do you think you'll need your smoking jacket?"
Lt. Col John Frost: "Well, I should hope so."
...the bravest are surely those who have the clearest vision of what is before them, glory and danger alike, and yet notwithstanding go out and meet it.
I liked his friend who said that he carried an umbrella because of a bad memory - he couldn't remember the passwords but he figured that no "jerry" would ever be carrying a brolly...

Major Tatham-Warner actually carried the umbrella for that purpose. In the movie, he's called Major Carlyle, and he dies, but Tatham-Warner survived.
Of course, half the people on this board probably know this story.[:)]

DE679 was my Dads ship in WW2. I run their reunions and web site for them. I had a FNG question for the forum and could not think of any other log in. Was going to join the Navy but get sea sick in the bathtub! Served in the Infantry instead, wound up on float puking my brains out anyway.
AW1Steve I am up in Falls Church, please put me on the VA list. I'll buy a round or two.

You are on it! Say , do you know where that top secret Navy base is in Falls Church? The one that they always showed on JAG? My wife has been trying to get orders there for ever (she's a Navy JAG). All the detailers say they don't know of such a base. So it must be top secret. You know that television never gets it wrong! [:D]
AW1Steve, sorry I do not know where that is. I am new to Falls Church. Used to live in Springfield off Alban Rd. My home was right in line with the air field at Fort Belvoir. Had Copters flying low over the Home all day. Kids and I loved it. Like a mini air show every day! Wife hated it, I told her that's the sound of freedom. Moved out west and could not sleep, to quiet with out that whopp whopp.
