Launching planes on demo mission
Hi people
In "shore of tripoli" demo mission I launch groups of 2 nighthawks to make a hole in enemy defenses ( sam sites).they get their job done and are ordered to return to base cause of no ammo.
the thing comes when these planes land and I want to launch them again to go on attacking, after ready time it is impossible to launch any aircraft again.
Searched thorugh bugs list couldnt find tips about this...
any ideas ??
Thx in advance

how long do you wait for them to launch again?
also how are you trying to set up the mission, through the mission menu or though the actual launch menu.

I just tried out that scenario and think that the problem is that there are no ammo re-loads available.
As you can see from the attached image, 0 re-loads are available.

RE: Launching planes on demo mission
Hello,
just played it through until the (succesfull) end and cannot confirm this. I could refit the Nighthawks with bombs and relaunch them.
I know this problem described from the past; think it was database related. But I haven´t met it for a long time.
Curious.
Regards,
Ralf
btw This is a nice scen displaying how deadly these stealth attack aircrafts perform their job. They blew their way through the SAm belt and obliterated the main target.

Other potential explanations are:
Ready times go wild when AI Formation Air Patrols activated
Ready times go wild when AI Formation Air Patrols activated. This does not appear when the AI option is not enabled.
or
Damage changes aircraft ready time instead of destroying them
Damage changes aircraft ready time instead of destroying them. Planes are given a ready time of 0:00 but they never become ready unless player uses F6 to change them to Ready status.

...and now I found something REALLY strange: [X(]
I have run this game three times from the start. One time, aircraft loadouts (those unlimited available aside) were available and I could rearm the Nighthawks with the original loadout and I could arm the birds on the Task Force.
Two times, no loadouts were available - thus the TF´s birds all remained on minimal and the Nighthawks had to be refitted with Paveways.[:(]

Howdy folks,
If you run across this behavior, please get a save game and e-mail it to me. If you don't have my e-mail address then just PM me on this forum and I'll reply with it.
I'll take a look at the database, the available loadouts, and the impact of those on being able to launch the planes.
Thanks,

Try turning OFF the AI Formation Air Patrols under the Game Settings menu before starting the scenario. This must be done before you start the scenario the first time as it is nearly impossible to cancel once enabled.

RE: Harpoon
Hello,
I think there is something wrong with magazines and ammo dumps in this database. Those problems remind me of similiar ones with ANW DB.
I just checked the Iwo Jima´s magazine and Akrotiri ammo dump and found something strange:
1. The loadout not available for the Nighthawk is the GBU-27/b Paveway III. Well, there is no such ordnance in the magazine. But there are GBU-24 Paveway III in it. So this one looks like a type mismatch between ac loadout and ordnance.
2. On the Iwo Jima there is not a single loadout available for the AV-8B Harrier II Plus. For example check ATA # 165: It bases on the AIM-120A AMRAAM. Sadly there is none of these in the ship´s magazine. [:(]
3. Worse than that: There are AIM-9M and AIM-9X Sidewinders in the ship´s magazines (and the DECM pod belonging to these ATA configs) but the Harriers still can´t be refitted with them.[:@]
addendum: Just found out that the 300 USG drop tank for the Harrier is missing in the ship´s magazine. That explains why only minimal loadout works - it has no drop tank.
Combined with the wrong Paveway III designation, this could explain it. Purely database related problems then.
What I still cannot understand is that I was able to reload the ac when I played the scen for the very first time. [&:]
All in all there seems to be at least a massive mismatch between the database and the aircraft loadout configs.

Nice to see someone willing to do the beta testing for AGSI since the developer evidently won't such simple and basic tests. [:@]ORIGINAL: koelbach

I think that you were able to re-load your a/c the first time you played the scenario because you accidentally disabled the Aircraft Logistics option when you selected the Difficulty menu. I did it once, too.

Hey, didn't notice that you were from B.A. The fellow who owns the ANW MP server is also an Argentine. Perhaps the two of you will be able to get together for a match, someday. We've been playing all the scenarios for the Falklands/Malvinas conflict.
I think that I've finally nailed down the problem. It's a bug. See:
Since Capitan Piluso is only a demo user and thus unable to use the test files provided, I'll try to explain in more detail exactly what happened.
After your bombers returned, you probably re-armed them with GBU #55 loadout so that your window looked like this (note the 12:00 hr re-load time required):

Wrong ready time displayed
Aircraft will now show 0:00 for ready time and Unassigned status when ordered to launch (Originally reported by Capitan Piluso)
1. Load [PDb] Wrong ready time displayed (3.9.3).scn in GE with Aircraft Logistics enabled
2. Open Air Ops window and order both aircraft at Aviano to re-arm with 4x AIM-120 loadout
3. Close Air Ops window
4. Re-open Air Ops window and order one aircraft to launch
5. Close Air Ops window
6. Re-open Air Ops window and aircraft will now show 0:00 for ready time and Unassigned

If you close out the Air Ops window and then re-open it, you will see:

Now, select one of the planes that has 12:00 ready time and order it to launch. You will see it say, "O/T Launch":

Even though the plane shows 0:00 ready time and is unassigned, it will not be ready for another 12:00 hrs.
This bug did NOT appear in previous Harpoon2 or Harpoon3 versions. In those (more) functional versions, the ready time did not revert to 0:00 when the Launch command was given. If the plane was not ready for launch, it was simply ignored. This bug exists only in ANW versions of Harpoon.
