Unfair Advantage

Post by noodles »

My esteemed PBEM opponanant has an unfair advantage over me. He broke his leg in September and has had nothing to do since then apart from to spend all day every day plotting my defeat. I have to trudge off to work every day, and although I spend all day thinking about the game, I can't actually play it. Do you think I should should ask for a house rule limiting his gameing time, or should I withhold files from him? I'm sure he knows the names of all his leaders and pilots by now.

Did he give you a sworn statement from his doctor proving he's disabled?  He may have simply abandoned real life to engage in WitP, a chasm whose edge many of us walk.

I guess there is one good thing about the AI. You already know what your getting into!

Good Luck! You can always even the odds by going out and breaking one of yours!

I think sitting at home playing the game all day is a gamey move! [:-][:D]

I suggest you break your leg so the odds will be even.

Yes Terminus, very similar I should think, with just as much paranoia, suspicion and borderline insanity (although I'm surprised his wife hasn't murdered him yet).

Sitting around all day working on a single game turn will lead to confusion and mistakes.  Get it right the first go round because after that you'll start messing with the plan and tweaking isn't always the best idea around.

Actually.., I wouldn't worry about it. With that much time on his hands to second-guess himself he's almost certain to over-think his moves and screw up... [:D][:D][:D]

Doesn't everyone knew the names of their pilots? I often write letters to the families of mine letting them know how they are getting on.

Have you thought of catching dengue fever? Not only would it allow you to spend more time at home playing WitP but as a tropical disease within the scope of the game it would gain you a certain extra kudos, certainly more so than simply having a broken leg.

While the battles the British fight may differ in the widest possible ways, they invariably have two common characteristics – they are always fought uphill and always at the junction of two or more map sheets.

Unfair advantage, no that is not true, as someone who was in the wright place at the wright time and got a early retirement package, I must say my wife spends her whole day annoying me, so you can't concentrate properly.
Anyhow I've 3 campaign games to keep me busy only one of which is WitP.

Now I can see again, after wipping tears from my eyes.

I don't only know their names, I know their birthday, marital status, NI numbers and their mothers maiden name. I'm currently working on getting their banking details.

I supposed I could be accused of worse. I only spend half my time working on my next term, the other half is usually spent trawling through the posts here looking for details that may be of use. There just aren't enough hours in the day, I'm sure even Nimitz got a day off once in a while.

I really need to get out more. Now if I can only get the doctor to sign me off for the next three years.

Why are you shown as still online pob -if that really is your name? If you got your finger out, rather than goofing around in the forum, you could get me another file back tonight

Rectal Cancer will get you a full year off work.  But I don't reccommend it.  Too bad AE didn't come out earlier.  I've had all this time off to play it.

Yes, but how do I know you'll send a response. After all, I need something to fill my empty days.

It would apper that my esteemed PBEM opponent pob is on the road to recovery. He is apparently now able to hobble to the nearest bar. I feel that this gives me an unfair advantage. Do you think this gives me an unfair advantage? Should I introduce a house rule limiting his drinking time, or should I spend all day in a bar as well to level the field?

By all means you should match him drink for drink... and then post the AAR!

I started out laughing at this thread, but before  long found myself wondering which series of dread diseases I might claim in order to do the same.

And I think pob should make up for his unfair advantage to date by spending the next month or so taking his turns only after he has been drinking.

Stuman,

I don't think he needs any encouragement. It's already addled his brain. If you look over in the war room, you will see that he is fixated on his supply lines after a couple of CLs sank a few ships. If he keeps up this level of paranoia, he will defeat himself without me having to do much at all.
