PDS Command

Post by coachtrox »

Any thought given by the development team to adding some options like
'Read Run then Pass'
'Read Pass then Run'
'If Run (or Pass) reaction is aggressive/controlled/conservative'

with appropriate reactions by players? To me, these would give more realism to player reactions and place more emphasis on how a coach designs a play. A play could be designed more specifically... (for example, when coaching a defense, a LB is told " Step forward toward your gap and look for the run. If QB fades, drop to your zone" or "Take your read steps into your zone. If pass stay in your zone over the top. If run toward you, attack aggressively outside-in. If run away from you, aggressively pursue cutback angle...").
Just a thought.

That is all logical coaching.

Right now, using the Read command basically reads pass if the quarterback keeps theball and run if the quarterback hands the ball off, and keying on the running back will key a run for that back and then cover for a pass if the back comes across the LOS. There is a little more to it than that, but keeping that in mind may help one get the results one is looking for in a play design.

A few of us had mentioned some things about defensive reads in beta, like guard keying and better AI procedures, but not much came of it. To David's credit, the ability to set zones and the man coverage by attribute was added to the game since release.

It would have been nice to have been able to move on to 3.0 with the coaching minds represented in the beta team and community input like this.
