Exceeding Carrier Aircraft Capacity

Post by piechev »

When a carrier's aircraft capacity is listed as 90, what happens if it has 91 planes on it? This came up during the first orders phase of scenario 4. My carriers started with 79 planes on them, so I added another unit to each of them. Each unit had 12 planes, so now both of my carriers have 91 planes. What effect will that have on performance (cap, readiness, planes that make it to the air, etc.)?

Its in the manual but:

If aircraft exceed 110% capacity, only transfer missions can be flown.

Aircraft aboard can never exceed twice capacity. There is also an upper limit of five Air Groups aboard a carrier.

So in your example, the carrier can have 99 (or maybe 98, I'm not sure if the penalty occurs AT 110% or ABOVE 110%) and still be fully functional. Any more thn that, and no offensive missions can be flown, until you transfer some to another base or carrier.
