What type of terrain is that around Wyndham??

It might be a good idea to post a screenshot of the terrain keys for further reference.

Are some base names omitted in realtion to the other versions of your map or will they be in the final product?

The 'dots' for dot bases are extremely hard to make out (especially in the PNG/Solomon's shot you posted earlier).

Is this due to the conpression of these screenies? I assume it's better in the game?

They're the same as in stock WITP, please don't just the exact quality of the graphics based on these compressed screenshots.

Thanks Erik - I suspected it was just the compressed images

I'd be curious to see the expanse of water between, say, Wake and Midway, or Tarawa and Baker Island. Does it even fit on one screen now?

Also, is there any chance you could show us a small section of varied terrain -- perhaps of the Canberra area or Seattle -- without compression? E.g., just show us a few hexes at full resolution. I'm especially interested in seeing the gorgeous new mountains and farmland and urban hexes with an uncompressed view, even if it were just 3x3 hexes. For that matter, those interested in "dots" might be interested in seeing, say, Lunga at full resolution.

Problem with that is the forum doesn't support bmp uploads (the format of the map files), and converting them to jpg destroys a lot of quality, especially if zoomed in.

But they are still pretty good screen shots of a non-existant game. [:D]

Just upload the bitmap to an external picture host site like photobucket.com and then just post the link....

Fantastic map!

I noticed both railroad and regular roads in same hex.  Is this for tactical and strategic modes of travel?  or Is it possible to damage the road/railroad networks?

Also any chance of seeing a screen shot of the Philippines?

Thanks

Speaking of which, its nice to see the Solomons so "base-free". Will require time and engineers for whoever decides to use them as a jumping off point (regardless of direction).

Different question. The map shows a border splitting Timor in half, but the bases are Dutch on both sides. Are the Portuguese in-game in any way? There's no sign of Macao in China - what about Goa, India?

It appears from your screen shot that Batavia and Soerabaja are urban hexes.

In games so far I've used both the "northern" and "southern" bases with ports. I prefer to land on any base without troops where I can generate air coverage to protect my ships. I may do it differently in this game to "experiment".
