Anchorage airfield is now size 5.

4 squadrons of B-19As at PH will try to bomb Wake Airfield next turn. They will go in at 18,000ft. There are Zekes on CAP. Recon shows 11 fighters, 15 bombers and 64 auxiliary aircraft present. 436th BS traded in their B-24Ds to become the 5th B-19 squadron. 22nd BS took their place in the B-24s and will continue the daily recon of Wake to gain experience.

Christmas Island is now 58/55/0. The Hornet escort group reached San Francisco and disbanded. CA Vincennes is overdue her 02/42 upgrade and will commence it immediately. 4 Porter/Sampson DDs arrived at Seattle from PH and disbanded ready for 4/42 upgrade. 2 USMC C2 transports arrived at the same place and disbanded to upgrade. 40,000 tons of supplies are loading at SF for Suva.

SS Permit is ready at Auckland and is off to Sydney to pick up mines for her trip back to the PI. 600 tons of supplies arrived at Albany from Whyalla. The Dutch ML has joind the ML Bungaree task force and they are sailing to lay mines at Auckland. NZ 14th Brigade has transferred to SOPAC and will be shipped to Koumac as soon as possible.

Image

The above screenie shows the current state of some of my SOPAC defences. 27th Div is still unloading at Nandi and a Tank Bn is on it's way to Suva.

3 Jap DDs bombarded 81st Pp Div at Catarman again. 7 Vals bombed also. The Zekes did not feature and were conspicuous by their absence when B-25s put a bomb into AK Minato Maru at Legaspi. I am guessing that Mike pulled them North just in case Legaspi fell before his reinforcements got there, unless he is re-equipping with Ki-109s...

There were no raids on Manila or Bataan either. Here is a quick snapshot of the PI situation. 31st US Rgt at Manila has joined SWPAC so that a cadre can be removed.

AK Dayak, with ABDA HQ personnel on board, was torpedoed by I-155 in the Sunda Strait. She was scuttled after sustaining damage of 67/98/43. There were at least 20 casualties amongst the troops on board. 3 ASW task forces are racing to the scene from Batavia.

Allied bombers scored no hits at Johore Bharu and the IJA 55th Div only suffered 6/1 casualties. Singapore supplies: 86938 tons. 1,800 tons of supplies arrived at Palembang. Force Z and the cruiser Striking Force have reached Soerabaya.

USAAF 25th PS has flown it's P-40Es into Calcutta to fly top cover for the RAF Hurricanes.

In China there were Jap raids on Honan and Wuchow. I am having to use a squadron of SB-2s to try to get supplies to my blocking force on the road to Lanchow.

Here is a screenie showing my current defences on the Indian border.

Image

Edit looking at these screens after I post is handy - I need to swap a few base forces to get the bigger ones into the bigger airfields...

The Japs have built Palau airfields up to size 5, while I have got Cold Bay airfield up to size 2.

My raid on Wake was not really worth the effort. 10 Zekes of the Chitose Daitai faced my 29 B-19As. I had 2 B-19s damaged, both of which crashed later. Mike lost 2 Zekes in A2A with 2 more, 3 Nells and a Jake destroyed on the ground. Damage to the base was minor. A sub has been spotted SE of Pearl Harbor, but I cannot spare any DDs to chase it as I sent all the spares to the West Coast to upgrade. My resting VP unit at Hilo has stood up on ASW at 1000ft and a squadron of Kingfishers moved into Kona from Lahaina for the same mission. Christmas Island is still 58/53/0.

SS Cachalot (sys 16) disbanded at San Diego. An ABDA HQ fragment teleported into San Francisco. It has loaded onto 2 10,000 ton AKs for Sydney. 2 A-20B units transferred to SOPAC and moved from San Francisco to Pearl Harbor. RCAF 9 sqn moved back to Sitka from Vancouver after upgrading to the Catalina.

CL Adelaide left Noumea to scout Tarawa for enemy shipping. My large AP/AK convoy finally arrived at Sydney from Aden. 7th AIF Div (see screenie) embarked for Bombay. A repaired Q-ship (Cape Sable) is sailing from Perth to join the escort. 8th PR sqn is unloading at Brisbane. An AP arrived at Townsville to pick up the rest of I Aus Corps HQ for transport to Darwin. 2,000 tons of supplies arrived at Port Moresby from Brisbane and K XV (sys 12) disbanded at Perth.

Moulmein now has a size 2 port.

BBs Yamashiro and Fuso, with a DD, bombarded my troops at Catarman overnight. With all these ships present it would be gamey to continue the crossing so 81st Pp Div will withdraw to Tacloban.

My raid on Rangoon achieved nothing and IJA 55th Div only suffered 5 casualties.

SC Hollyhock took a torpedo from I-155 as it moved South to the West of Tjilitjap. The USN DD ASW tf will pursue. Hollyhock has damage 44/66/49 and will run for Tjilitjap. The 3 AKs she was escorting will dogleg West before heading on to Perth with elements of ABDA HQ on board.

My B-25s attempted an attack on Jap CLs off Palau. There were only Cluades on CAP.

Supplies: Manila (see screenie) 36,945 tonnes; Bataan 23,630 tons; Singapore 86,470 tons.

In China the Japs bombed Honan and Wuchow.

I lost an IL-4C attacking DM Hatsutaka off Taichu. In return my crack SB-2s put 3 250kg AP bombs into CL Nagara off Hong Kong. I'd have liked to show a screenie of one of the hits, but felt I needed to show my dispositions in Burma.

The A-20Bs that came forward from the West Coast last turn have flown on to Canton Island. Christmas Island is now 58/49/0.

CVL Hammondsport arrived back at AF with system damage of 3 points after her trip to Noumea. 36th BS at Umnak upgraded to the B-17E in error. As soon as I get over 20k supplies there again they will change to the B-25D, until 4E stocks flesh out a bit.

4000 tons arrived at Canton Island from the South Atlantic. 10,000 tons of fuel from CONUS arrived at Noumea. APD Gregory arrived at Townsville and loaded an element of I Aus Corp for Darwin. The AP is having to unload as I loaded Asiatic Fleet HQ in error... According to recon there are only 10 fighters and 9 auxiliary aircraft at Rabaul, so I am chancing a bombardment raid by my Australian/US striking force from Townsville.

I cannot remember when this Jap CL sank, but it gives me an excuse to show more Dixie art...

Soerabaya airfield is now size 5.

My raids on Toungoo and Rangoon only did minor damage. A max effort (27 B-17s) at Johore Bharu destroyed 3 Zekes on the ground. A similar max effort (55 B-17s) destroyed another at Brunei.Three raids on the troops at Toungoo revealed the fact that IJA 31st Div has moved forward into the hex, losing 60 casualties to my light bombers.

Pp 81st Div shot down an attacking Val and Manila endured a deliberate attack (see screenie). Although the Japs took heavy losses, 6,000 tons of supplies were used up, leaving only 30,788 tons. B-25s attempted to hit a DD off Legaspi, with no CAP in evidence. There is a huge build up of shipping at Formosa, so I guess Mike is nearly ready for the next phase.

Image

Edit I note Mike is fighting some of his Divisions as three brigades - I shall have to return the favour...

1000 tons of supplies arrived at Makassar. I will have to try to get some into Sinkep also.

HMS Warspite and 3 DDs arrived at Colombo. They are sailing on to Batavia to join the R Class BBs. SC Hollyhock (46/75/14) disbanded at Tjilitjap. TK Erling Brovig (68/95/0) at Palembang was scuttled. 3000 tons of supplies arrived at Palembang. The evacuated Dutch Depot Vliegtuigroep flew their repaired C-60As from Madras to Calcutta and started to fly supplies into Schwebo. Hopefully I will be able to increase supply levels quickly as Mike seems to be moving forward if the 31st Div is anything to go by.

Mike also carried out a deliberate attack at Singapore. Supplies remaining: 84868 tons.

Mike bombed Wuchow. My SB-2s inflicted 36/1/1 casualties on IJA 34th Div at 48,36. I will shock attack here this turn to try to draw Mike's attention back to China and cause more delays. I will also shock attack at Xuwen to try to throw his units back across the Strait.

My crack SB-2s put a bomb into APs Hakuyo Maru (on fire) and Izumo Maru (see screenie). An IL-4C was damaged by a Rufe near Takao. A Jap deliberate attack East of Yenen threw my last guerilla unit back across the river.

14,000 tons of resources arrived at Vladivostock from further round the coast.

Newcastle has increased it's port to size 2. Thursday Island airfield is also now size 2.

Christmas Island is now 58/45/0. I have switched off all other engineering work to see if repairs speed up. VP-71, assgned to SOPAC, moved forward from SF to PH. 2,000 tons of supplies have arrived at Canton Island from PH.

I have cancelled the supply airlift to Thursday Island after the loss of a plane and crew. I just cannot afford to lose Aussie pilots. Next turn, if I remember, I will start to move US transport squadrons over to SWPAC. Here is a screenie of the Southern striking force on their way to Rabaul - I may pull HMAS Voyager out due to her short legs...

The Japs have increased Sandakan airfield in Borneo to size 2.

K XVIII, patrolling near Cam Ranh Bay, was attacked by 6 Jap DDs, but evaded. She then torpedoed and sank MSW W.9. She will get out of dodge and take her last warloads to Legaspi.

My raids on Toungoo and Rangoon caused minimal damage. At Johore Bharu I destroyed a Lily, a Zeke and a Sally on the ground. At Brunei the victim was a Mavis. IJA 31st Div at Toungoo took 26/0/1 casualties. My B-25s missed a DD at Legaspi. The Jap bombers have now been absent for days. I do not know what Mike is up to...

Supplies: Manila - 35,147 tons; Singapore 84,911 tons.

K X with damage 42/26/0 disbanded at Soerabaya. K XIV, with damage 25/58/0 disbanded at Batavia. 6,000 tons of fuel arrived at Batavia from Balikpapan. Here is the current situation at Soerabaya. Force Z and an Anglo Dutch/US cruiser force are also docked.

Mike lost a Lily to flak over Honan. He also bombed Wuchow again. My IL-4Cs were busy after Jap ships, but scored no hits.

My raid on IJA 34th Div at 48,36 caused 24/1/1 casualties but it did not help the shock attack. I lost 2071/57/1 to Mike's 188/61. I hope my troops will recover from their severe (70-80) disruption and hold.

At Xuwen my attack caused 2 week Jap units to retreat, but there are still 4 in place, including armour (see composite screenie). I lost 1125/22/1 to Mike's 398/91/1. The other part of the screenie shows the poor experience level of Soviet replacements.

I have switched off all other engineering work to see if repairs speed up.

It won't. [:(]

Building is automatically halted until all repairs are made. Not sure if/how that changes in AE.

Thanks for the info. I did not think it would, but am willing to try anything. This damage has been ridiculously hard to repair. As soon as I can spare an engineer unit I will be shipping one out. At least for now it looks like Mike's CVs are not coming back to do it all again. I have not had any CV air sightings for a while. A sub is on the way into Kwajalein, so hopefully I'll soon know if they have moved West.

Pago Pago airfield is now size 3.

A rather interesting piece of SigInt revealed that 5 men are based at Ise. Is that a fragment or an error?

USS Trigger, approaching Kwajalein, reported many Kate sightings and was attacked three times. She also damaged a Kate.

AR Rigel returned to Pearl Harbor after repairs at Colon. VP-71 flew on to Pago Pago from PH, but lost a 'boat on the way. The crew was rescued. 125th Infantry, part of the Midway garrison, has commenced training and is now at 48% experience, up from 45% last time I checked. 1,000 tons of supplies arrived at Johnston Island while 2,000 tons arrived at Fanning Island. Both shipments originated at Pearl Harbor. Christmas Island damage is now 58/41/0.

S-28, with system damage of 32 points, disbanded at San Diego. S-23 completed repairs there and sailed to patrol off Wake Island. 2,000 tons of supplies is loading at SF for Anchorage. Another 40,000 tons are loading for PH. 21st and 22nd Troop Carrier squadrons switched to SWPAC and loaded for Brisbane.

3 APs started to load 14th NZ Infantry Brigade at Auckland for Koumac on New Caledonia. USN 117th Base Force is unloading at Luganville. AV Tangiers sailed from Noumea for Tulagi to be in a position to support the forward basing of VP-71. 20,000 tons of oil from CONUS has arrived at Sydney.

Saigon Port and Airfield are both now size 6. Rangoon airfield is the same. Kota Bharu now has a size 4 airfield.

My raid on Toungoo only caused minor damage and the IJA 31st Div suffered no casualties. At Johore Bharu Mike lost 2 Nells and 2 Sallys. Mike's bombers reappeared, bombing Palembang, Manila and Pp 81st Div. At Palembang I lost 5 B-339s to escorting Zekes, with Mike losing a Nell in reply. MSW Cheribon was sunk. All ships have sailed apart from AKs unloading supplies. I have removed all but 2 sqaudrons of B-139s that are flying recon over Singapore to build experience and an A-24 squadron that is doing the same over Kuala Lumpur.

Supplies: Manila 34,532 tons; Bataan 23,355 tons; Singapore 84,671 tons; Palembang 17,284 tons. I just do not seem to be able to get Palembang over 20,000 tons. It's a shame as I think Mike will invade there soon. HMS Manxman, brought in to mine Palembang, stalls when I try to send her there. I may move her down to Soerabaya to see if that helps. I really hope AE fixes task force stalls - I hate them and they really can hurt you...

My 3 ARs arrived back at Soerabaya from Kendari. 2 immediately sailed for Tjilitjap to assist HMS Hollyhock (51/65/0). 2 AKs at Batavia are loading more of the ABDA HQ for transit to Perth.

146 RAF sqn is unloading at Bombay. When HMS Illustrious arrives shortly, she will only have a squadron of fighters for an air group. The 12 Albacores of 827 sqn FAA at Trincomalee have been warned that they will be joining her when she gets to Colombo.

In Burma the Japs have moved a unit forward to Meiktila. All light bombers will bomb this unit.

The Palembang garrison:
