spellir,
Looking at your errors it appears that you are not running fMF.hta from the PCK root directory?
Is that the case?
If so try unblocking the zip and then unzipping into the PCK root dir and try again.

RE: fragMotion Settings
Also are you running IE6 or IE7?
RE: fragMotion Settings
Actually now I come to look at the code I think I left a link to some files which are used by MM. that is if you don't have MM installed fMF won't work right! Should be able to fix ...

it works__; but only the browse-to button; and the little drag to box is always an X.
Finally it seems to work (only the browse-to button but it is not a problem).
Thanks again!

Okay.
Images should be easier to load at Matrix.
RE: fragMotion Settings
When I get a chance I will update fMF to at least work with the better browse button. I think I know why that doesn't work! In terms of the drag/drop control I would like to hear if this is a IE6 problem.

Oh sorry: your question about IE above slipped by me.
I am using IE6.
And I do not have MM installed.

OMG are those animated! amazing work you sly fox.

Stridor,
Well ... amazing, yes .... trouble free, no.
Like I said, it looks and behaves properly in MS3D ... naming the bones "frame_bone" gets it running in PcK ... the problem is the animation gets corrupted when Ms3D converts it to an X. It looks like you're standing on a street corner in New York back in the '80s watching someone break dance! [:D]
Now, I tried the first method via fragM (post #1 of this thread) ... but no luck. The old ATR rifle was removed, and the new panzershreck was added and assigned the correct joints. FragM's animation showed everthing good-to-go, ready for launching. I didn't change the animation names in fragM. So, when I exported it to a text X the file size was ~ 2.9 megs!! I slipped it thru your fmf program, no problem. Pck just didn't like it.
Anyway ... I'm working out the bugs ... so I'll post here if I get a breakthough.
What I'm going to do is take a simple tankcommander figure and sort out the bugs ... this has less animation (upper torso stuff) so I should be able to work faster in my experiments.

RE: fragMotion Settings
How do you assign a texture to a surface in fM? It's a basic thing, but I can't figure it out.
What's the difference between a "material" and a "texture"? I see I can assign a material to all selected, but not the texture that I have loaded.

- Right click on the Material folder.
- Select NEW ... MATERIAL.
- Right Click on the new material
- Select NEW ... TextureLayer ... ColorMap
- Right Click on the ColorMap ... Select Texture
- Select your texture.
Then, either have your entire Mesh Group Selected or select your models faces individually and assign the new material to it (group or faces).
Hope that helps,
Rob
RE: fragMotion Settings
Hmmm. Followed instructions above, and still not seeing textures loading in the SE (I see them in fM). I'm getting tons of CTD's on loading of models, so I'm sure that means something is amiss somewhere.
I need to load the "texture" prior to the above instructions, correct? I am loading .dds textures that have an alpha layer, maybe I need to select "alpha map" for them to work?
Thanks Rob.

RE: fragMotion Settings
Here is the model and .dds. I tried selecting as "alpha" but no luck there either. Still no texture on the models in the SE.
If someone that knows what they are doing with this program could have a look at it, I would appreciate it. I can see the textured image in fM, bt not in the SE, but maybe I am missing something glaring that one of you may see.
Thanks.

That's correct.

Unfortunately I haven't gotten that far ... so, I dunno. My guess would be leave them as a colored map. I'm thinking the Alpha map technique is when you want to take a basic texture and apply an alpha texture on top .... instead of using a dds that has an alpha already.
I'm getting tons of CTD's on loading of models, so I'm sure that means something is amiss somewhere.
Is the texture that was saved with the model in the map folder?
I'll download your project but I don't have the time to look at it for very long.... I'll be able to experiment tomorrow though.
Rob
EDIT .... In the meantime, export it to MS3D and try using MS3D to do what you're doing. Then, compare the two. I use MS3D alot and I've had no problems so fragM is gonna take awhile to trouble shoot.
RE: fragMotion Settings
Yeah, relearning an entirely new program just when I was getting a handle on MS3D is a tough road to tread.
Here's the gist of the settings:

Looks like it couldn't find the texture location .... Make sure you have the texture in the same folder that you assigned the mesh ??? or in the map folder
Also, make sure you didn't reverse the vertex order... ie, the texture is on the "inside" polygons. To fix your current model, try reversing the vertex order and then export again.
Rob
RE: fragMotion Settings
Yep, texture is in the same folder. I just exported it to a MS3D file, then exported to an .x file from there and it worked fine.
I'll try flipping the vertex order and see what that does. Edit- nope. I'm at a loss.

Ok, at least you know it's fragM having problems ...
Oh .... humph ... I just thought of something .... Perhaps fragM requires you to UV map the texture manually , or at least go thru the process. I duuno.
RE: fragMotion Settings
Yeah, I did the remapping.
It's too bad, because there are a few things that I like about the program (and it seems mandatory due to the lighting issues). I'm sure it's something I'm not doing correctly, but I seem to have hit all of the bases.
I may post on their forum and see what they can come up with. Our issues are pretty specific, though.

Hmmmm .... thought of something again .... Try the export options ... perhaps the texture isn't "check marked" for export ... again, I dunno.
