AI replacements and upgrades

Post by gwgardner »

Questions for doomtrader:

With any given set of build preferences for the AI,

1) Will the AI reinforce it's units in the field?

2) Will the AI upgrade units in the field?

3) For the AI, what happens first - building new units, reinforcing field units, upgrading field units?

Thanks much.

To clarify point 3):

Does it work like this: All possible reinforcements are done from all available PPs, then all possible builds are done from remaining PPs, and finally upgrades are done if and only if no builds can be done?

Or is there a more complex algorithm?

[by the way, these questions came to mind in regard to my current AI game, in which I have Russian preferences set to divisions over corps, infantry over armor, and air last - I'm just wondering if any higher level units will ever be created/upgraded]

If I might add a suggestion for the AI. Have them save some PP's to research or else there won't be any need to upgrade [:)]
Also place a limit on the number of units on the map. Once this limit is reached then upgrade all possible units. Then save the PP's.

I was suspecting this ;-)

level of units purchased(upgraded to) by a country depends from entry in this AI line:

Code: Select all

#"DesiredLandForcesStructure" then list of exactly 5 integers - this describes the proportions of 5 levels of land units that AI will
 try to achieve.
Default is (10,20,30,20,10). Note - these figures are not percents, they only define proportion, (so they dont have to sum up to 100).
Also - this does not concern tank units, for which AI will always try to achieve max level
hope this helps

AI saves some PP when actual tech level is smaller than desired

there is no limit of units on the map but since the next update you will have to pay for each strength point of the units
