Weapon Type - Ordinance - Sub-types

Post by miller7219 »

Can someone give some detail on what the cluster bomb and anti-runway ordinance sub-types do "under the hood"? How are they handled differently than say the bomb sub-type...i.e what ability(s) do these sub-types give? Example: The Harpoon 4 Annex indicates that all LGB can be used as anti-runway. Does that mean I should create LGBs with the anti-runway ordinance sub-type (not the bomb sub-type)? Will they function like the bomb sub-type, but gain whatever ability the anti-runway sub-type gives (whatever that is)?? Thanks.

The differences lie principally with the damage effects. Anti-runway types, for example, attack the runways, reducing them in size as damage accumulates. They cause only very limited damage, otherwise. So, an "anti-runway LGB" would be useful against runways, but not very useful against other targets.
