Just a question.

Post by kev_uk »

Greets,
How does UV compare to the South Pacific scenario in WitP? Its been ages (years) since I played UV, and was wondering would I get more enjoyment playing the WitP scenarion from May to early '43, or is UV the better option? I have never been that fussed on the AI in WitP (its been ages since I played that too), as well as the amount of time needed to play the game. IIRC, the AI in UV was slighty better...but how much of the changes in WitP have been incorporated back to UV?

I just fancy giving it a go...I blame Silent Hunter IV!

never played WiTP, although considering it. Main reason is what you mentioned...... the time it seems to take. One thing about this game is how deadly late game fighters are for the US. I do not think many changes have been worked into UV for a coupel years, that is probably what Carrier force is going to do.

I am "eagerly" awaiting any new announcements about CF too, but somehow I feel uneasy with it. Last update is approx. one year ago, and no one ever heard something else since.
Tankerace, who was opening the "what do you like to see in CF" thread above, made just ONE comment on his own story with 176 other replies from the forum. And we were trying to bring in some help for the developers in form of suggestions. Somehow I don´t understand why there was no kind of feedback from Matrix since?!? I understand that UV is most probably out of further official update support. OK. But as I got it, they wanted to develop CF on the roots of UV. Hence they shouldn´t regard us that orphaned. Just my 2 cents.

After all, I wonder what progress this new game actually has made yet. [&:]

no idea, I too am starting to think it is a cancelled project, or that team is also working on the WiTP/AE project. they are also working on WiF, and still trying to get EiA into a working game, so perhaps they are stretched too thin?

I was reading about CF - and no news is maybe good news? I am gearing towards playing UV again - there was something about it, maybe the larger scale, that I liked of WitP. I just didnt have the time to play WitP - jebus its a loong game, plus there is the AI issue as well. What a labour of love.

Lets be hopeful about CF - be a shame to let this game drown into obscurity...

I also think that CF is dead, or might as well be. Like a lot of ¨future¨ Matrix games being programed by ¨hobbyist¨ they will remain in the ¨future¨

Most of the good games here were done by profesionals like Gary Grigsby, etc., then later you get the hobbyist programers wishing to improve the games. They get in over their heads and the projects go years behind schedule always to remain in the ¨coming soon¨ [8|]

And yes, RGIJN is correct, 2 post a year ago about CF from Tankerace says everything doesn´t it? No screenshots, no details, no debate no nothing.

NOT AN ACTIVE PROJECT

Look how late the Battle of Britain to Bombing the Reich game is! A game I have been waiting on for 2 years.

I think some hobbyist need to find other hobbys beside programming wargames with empty promises. If they do ever actually get anything out we should all hope it will not need a patch fix. That would take them another 10 more years.

UV is a good game, although it does still have a few kinks & bugs that need ironing out.

Have tried but can't get in to WiP like I can UV - it's just too big and complicated for it's own good!

Yeah - WitP is just - well, put it this way, I dont fancy playing the entire war in real time - lol. Which in some ways is a shame, because it *is* a good game (against a human!). The amount of detail - wow..

UV, when it was released, was great.

NOT AN ACTIVE PROJECT

It would be very disappointing after all. But I fear something like that too... At least they should let us know instead in the dark.
Considering our hopes and suggestions, to cancel or not to cancel - this is here the question!

Well, I loaded up WiTP and am playing the SoPac hypothetical scenario. Thought I was doing well until I hot early July...then bam, the japs had slowly built up Lae, based the remains of its carrier flight groups and LRBs there, along with about 100 zeros, and has slowly knocked out my supply AKs and APs and is now hitting my airfield at Moresby. And by god I was winning this game early on...

I set the AI to hard, I dont know if this makes it cheat or not, but the scenario seems to be much tougher than UV (although its a hypothetical one)...

Interesting...
