A task force is to be assembled to bring in around 20.000 tons of supplies to the city of Soerebaja. The city is not surrounded by alot of aerial units, so ships should arrive safely, they are however likely to not be able to return to Karachi after finishing their mission.

We regret to inform you that the battleship HMS Revenge was sunk within viewing distance of the city. We had all capable fighters up flying CAP over the ship, unfortunately at the time the Japanese carrier based planes attacked, the CAP was reduced to 3 Buffalo fighters. The ship took 3 torpedoes and 8 bombs before going down.

Please!!! KILL THE BASTARD THAT MADE THIS PLAN!!! HEAVY resistance met. Japanese forces at Lahaina numbering more than 30.000 men. Losses to initial landing force close to 10.000 men. Several ships severly damaged. Did none of you at HQ think about the fact that the Japanese commander might move his bombers to another base? We are going to need alot more men to take out this base! Send reinforcements fast! And to make matters worse, Kido Butai is spotted moving towards our location from the west. Unless decisive action is taken, and fast, this invasion is going to be a disaster equalling the fall of Manilla! Godamn!

The garrison at Pearl Harbour can only watch as wave after wave of enemy planes attack the shipping now gathered at Lahaina. Having experienced several air raids themselves, they probably know the effect these raids have on the targeted men better than anyone. Those able to listen to the radio chatter over the short wave radio sets can do nothing to aid the fear and helplessness of the men at and around Lahaina. One thing is clear to the garrison at Pearl Harbour after this day, and that is that CiCPac HQ needs to send more men to Lahaina, and fast. Another issue for concern is of course the arrival of Kido Butai on the scene. The added torpedo and dive bombers can only add to the carnage taking place off Lahaina. FOrtunately however, losses in shipping have ben light so far with only 4 transports lost, the men trying to make it to the island however have by now lost close to 15.000 troops in total, that ammounts to almost 1/3 of the initial force. Things do not look good at present...

At CiCPac HQ tension is high. At this time they have to accept the fact that they have greatly underestimated the number of Japanese troops on Lahaina, and the entire invasion force is in jeopardy. More troops are assembling in San Diego and San Fransico, but it is unclear if they will be able to join the fight in time. Furthermore the presence of the Kido Butai at Lahaina has greatly increased the loss of ships during the invasion. It seems that the limit of 20 ships lost for a success will not hold. The submarines in the area are assembling like a pack of starving wolves, and are circling the Kido Butai. Every submarine commander knows that if the invasion fails, it might still be considered a partial success if they manage to sink a Japanese carrier or two...

Someone fire the SOB that charted a course for the ships sailing from Lahaina to Pearl Harbour, instead of heading NW he decided to go W then N, doubling the distance the transports had to travel. Severe losses as a result. Almost 30 ships were sunk, expect more losses tomorrow...
OOC: Was not aware that setting a course NW from Lahaina to Pearl was not possible...Lesson learned...Japan is winning the war, and fast!!

Things do not look good for the Allies. The invasion of Lahaina can only be called a disaster. So far more than 80 ships have been sunk, the base is still in Japanese hands, and the pressure on Pearl Harbour has not been removed.
In China, the Japanese are pushing the Chinese back on all fronts, and Japanese carriers are based outside Karachi, and every day sees recon planes over the city.
Things do not look good for the Allies. The invasion of Lahaina can only be called a disaster. So far more than 80 ships have been sunk, the base is still in Japanese hands, and the pressure on Pearl Harbour has not been removed.

Well, I stated when I asked for an opponent that this would be my first pbem game, and as such a learning experience, I also stated that Jap AutoVictory was a real possibility [:D]

Once more the war slows down with no major effort fought anywere in the Pacific. Japan keeps expanding her reach by seizing unguarded bases and beaches, making the allied war effort even harder. It is now clear at CiCPac HQ that something has to be done, but what? The situation is not good, with the Japanese soldiers running around doing as they please. The only good message came from New Zealand;

Rest assured that all that is possible is being done to aid your situation. At the moment two infantery divisions are boarding transport ships with the aim of coming to your aid. Also close to 90 transports are on their way from Australia to Los Angeles/San Fransico were they will immediately load as many troops as possible for shipment to Lahaina. Hang on, at the moment your valiant fight against superior numbers are our only strike against Japan!
One message is sent from CiCPac HQ today, it does however offer a small glimps of hope for some of the allied soldiers.

Rest assured that all that is possible is being done to aid your situation. At the moment two infantery divisions are boarding transport ships with the aim of coming to your aid. Also close to 90 transports are on their way from Australia to Los Angeles/San Fransico were they will immediately load as many troops as possible for shipment to Lahaina. Hang on, at the moment your valiant fight against superior numbers are our only strike against Japan!

Due to the fact that Japan has in effect closed down Pearl Harbour, CiCPac HQ has for some weeks been operating out of San Fransisco. This morning starts just like any others, but as CiCPac Terje439 lits up the first sigarette of the day, a siren starts to sound, and is quickly followed by others.
Soon the sound of airplanes can be heared, alot of airplanes! Looking out of the window of his office, the CiCPac sees several planes heading towards the harbour and the ships at anchor. This has been witnessed before with the Japanese attacks on Pearl Harbour when the fleet was located there, and a nautiating feeling spreads in CiCPac Terje439s stumach as he realises that the Japanese commander has sailed the Kido Butai to within striking distance of the US West Coast. What is even worse is that for the last few weeks, most of the bombergroups located on the West Coats has been trying to sink submarines, and as such are not prepared to launch a counterstrike against any enemy surface fleet.
Soon allied fighters arrive at the scene, and they fight with valour, but there are simply too many Japanese planes in the air, and although the ammount of anti aircraft fire that is seen is illuminating the sky even more, not many planes are shot down. As the Japanese planes head back to sea, they leave behind a trail of destruction in the harbour.
Later in the day a damage assessment is finished and delivered at CiCPac HQ.

With a total loss of 44 bombers, the Japanese scored the following in todays raid;
-54 fighters shot down
-carrier Yorktown severly damaged and on fire
-carrier Hornet severly damaged and on fire
-battleship Maryland severly damaged and on fire
-battleship Mississippi severly damaged and on fire
-battleship New Mexico damaged
-heavy cruiser Northampton damaged
-4 destroyers damaged and on fire.
All fighter groups have stepped up, and more fighters have arrived from San Diego as the Kido Butai is still spotted just offshore. All our bombercrews have orders to launch an attack in the morning, and all available subs in port (those under repair, that would be Sir) have been given the location of the enemy carrierfleet, and been told to sink a carrier or themselves!
Be warned that Yorktown, Hornet, Maryland and Mississippi will not survive more than two bomb hits at the most. If not attacked there is a possibility that we might be able to save these ships, the damage to our carriers however is a severe setback as this diminishes our strikeback ability.

This time however the American pilots are ready for them, yet fewer planes are shot down this day. The result however is disastrous to the fleet at anchor. When the Japanese planes head back to sea, the carrier Yorktown is sunk, and further damage has been inflicted to the carrier Hornet, the battleships Maryland and Mississippi as well as 6 destroyers and 6 tankers.
Later in the morning determined American pilots head out over the Pacific in search of the Japanese fleet. As the enemy carriers are spotted, they start their bombing run, but before they can release their bombs several zero fighters show up and take their toll. In the end, the allied air raid is not a big success, but a minor success has been achieved as the enemy carrier Soryu was last seen on fire after a bomb had penetrated her deck and caused an internal explosion.
