What about Betty?

Would you say the CHS is better than stock?  Betty's annoy the crap out of me in certain situations that seem un-realistic to me.

CHS in general is much better than stock - esp. with the NikMod (imo). It doesn't solve the Betty problem, though...

CHS is better, agreed. But for the Japanese player its industry is less robust and personally I've crashed a few times trying to do to much with it. If you try to expand like you are in stock EVERYTHING shuts down. To make it all work you have to coax it along slowly and maintain your shipping fleet. Just my 2 cents.[:)]

Hmm, interesting.  Can I still play the games I have started if I choose to go with CHS, or will the be over written, thus having to start over?

Copy the folder with the game in it into a new location (say: \program files\War In The Pacific\ - leave the old folder in place. You can rename the new folder if you like. You can make a shortcut from the exe file in the new folder (and label it appropriately) and move it to the desktop.

Do the CHS "installation"* on one of the folders (actually easier to do it to the original default location). This involves downloading the various CHS files from Andrew Brown's site and unzipping them (follow the directions on his site).
*EDIT: DO NOT RERUN WITP INSTALLATION PROGRAM - this can cause problems.

Then you can run both games as needed... it keeps the save files separate and avoids problems when you mix the two together.

AFAIK, there're "pools of torpedoes" in various commands and CVs (both for Allies and Japan).  Like there's a "pool" of Okha bombs in WitP.  If you don't have enough torpedoes, your bombers will use bombs.

this doesnt sound like that big a game change. as long as torp stocks are kept up then betty will still the overpowered force they currently are.

But it is said it won't be that easy to keep stocks up.  The Betty was a dangerous plane, when torpedo supply was right - fragile, but dangerous when using torpedoes.  They just did not use them as often as WitP-stock.
