"Suspicious" as in there is an amusing and likely highly improbable story behind this, which will come out eventually, not that it was a conspiracy or something nefarious.

US subs ran into Russian subs several times during the first cold war, go read silent service. If fact even today any time a Russian sub has an accident at sea they still blame the USN![:D]

Those days however atleast one party was aware of the others presence.

Apparently the french and british submariners didn't even realise that they had hit another sub. They only realised that when they arrived at port, damage was inspected and they learned that the other navy also had a boomer have a similar accident.

They were actually practicing maneuvers for a future invasion of the American coast.

I, for one, welcome our new Brit/French overlords.

We must act... against the Sioux, even to the extermination of men, WOMEN and CHILDREN.The more Indians we can kill this year, the less will have to be killed next year. They all have to be killed or be maintained as a species of paupers.- w.t. SHErMAN

It wasn't that long ago that a US sub accidentally rammed a Japanese vessel of some sort. Ooops.
History began July 4th, 1776. Anything before that was a mistake.

STEREOTYPE ALERT

Afternoon tea is dead and buried over here. Starbucks, Nero's Costa's, coffee rules. Honestly we don't still live in Victorian times and we don't all know the Royal Family...... WE HAVE MOVED ON!!!!!!!
