You'll notice we resisted the impulse to create the 2 battalions of the 43rd PS.

Especially when we -- er, I -- found out that the "battalions" were company-sized, and located on two different islands. The total strength of the 'regiment' was about 286 men, IIRC. For what its worth, the 43rd is factored into the strength of the garrison battalion on Zamboanga, and (I think) one of the battalions of the 45th on Luzon.

Btw, I can't praise Don enough. He did most of the original ground-breaking research that allowed us to put in a much-improved Philippine OOB. I'm to blame for many of the "compromises". I decided early on to avoid breaking down Philippine units below division level, unless I absolutely had to. So there are many company-sized units, especially the Constalbury (and a few battalion-sized forces) that are 'rolled-up' into larger units.

2. Why are some units attached to a base while others are attached to their HQ?

As far as I can tell, units reporting to a base is a harmless bug. I have no idea why.

When you click on the unit itself, it will show that it is actually attached to USAFFE HQs.

Take a look at Col Howard, commanding the 4th. What are the differences between this and stock?

The Philippine OOB is one of my hotspots, that's for sure.

Baguio, the location of A and B companies, 43rd PS, is not represented on the map as it is too close to other bases. The understrength battalion there never really did anything. It was cut off, destroyed valuable equipment, and made a difficult withdrawal through enemy lines to Bataan. Many men lost in various ways, rest dispersed into other units. The commander, a Col. Horan, was nicknamed "the colonel who ran".

The two companies at Zamboanga (C, E) were used to train Philippine Army units and never really came into action as an organized unit.

We also considered the 14th Regiment, PA but skipped that is it was mostly formed from detachments cut off from the 11th Division (and others).

The "new" 4th Marines will arrive 44-09. You can deploy them alone, or unite them with the 22nd and 29th Marines to form the 6th Marine Division.

Which actually begs the question: will the 1st Provisional Marine Brigade ever exist ingame as an actual unit? Or will its components (4th and 22nd Marines) just be on map and independent?

Figured that would be the case. Doesnt really make sense to make a unit that existed for one battle, and had no unique units and/or capabilities other than bringing together two orphan Marine Regiments, which would leave the temporary unit after the battle to form a new unit.

As always, thanks for the reply.

You put all the stats on the main page, thus eliminating the need to use an extra mouse click. Thanks!

Full names!

Bingo! 3 for 3.

In stock, fully 3/4s of all US LCU commanders (two-star through four-star) were fictional. They've been cleaned out of the data base. Real historical commanders, including every US Major General that ever led a division into combat, and many that didn't, have replaced them. In some cases (Marine Defense Battalions, most at start units in the PIs) historical commanders are assigned to lower-echelon units as well.

No attempt was made to completely analyze the skills of every historical general. A few generalizations do apply -- Generals who were relieved of command have lower ratings. Marine Generals tend to be more aggressive than Army Generals. Generals who trained divisions, but never took them into combat, have low Aggressiveness and Land, higher Admin and Inspiration.

So if you see a commander with a "full name" you'll know he was a real-life historical figure.

I'll be adding US Marine Regimental Commanders before we go Gold. (Not every Commander, one representative Commander per Regiment).

Now if anyone has a good source with the names of the commanders of US Infantry Regiments, post them here (or PM me) and I'll be glad to add them, too.

As long as this includes Lewis Puller, I'll be happy. He was buried at the church by my high school, but there wasn't room inside the church for me that day.

Will it be possible to try to move Philippine Army units from island to island via ship, or does the political point system prevent this?

After much analysis we were unable to design an acceptable cheat-proof system to do this. So, regretably, the restriction still applies. Restricted command troops can not be moved by ship.

Why not just use the "ferry" system that RHS and Nemo's mod has in it.........that way the PI troops can move to wherever in theater.......same for making the jumo from Sumatra to Java etc.
