Direct 3D error

Hi folks,
I have 8 Matrix games so far and they all run great on my Vista 32 system, I even downloaded the demo version of this before I bought it and it also worked fine, But now I get a stupid error message cannot find compatible Direct 3d and it even says that my serial key is invalid, that can't be I downloaded it from matrix with physical shipment included,anyone with similar problems?[&:] by the way I just downloaded the latest update this morning 1.06A.

Have you tried right clicking the icon and running it as Administrator?
 
Just a common problem with Vista and some apps. Might solve it for you.

Hi JudgeDredd,
That did not work, I reinputted my serial key, and I now get DEBUG ASSERTION FAILED

Program:C:\program files\world war one\ ww1.exe
file:fopen.c
Expression:(file!=NULL)[&:]

Hellfire, this game is the absolute worst for Vista and UAC.  After you install the game in administrator mode, be sure you are running the Config program as administrator as well.  You can run it without and it will fool you in that it is working but it is not really.  It doesn't properly save the config info.  Once you run the config program as admin and get your serial number in and have all the options set, then see if you are getting the same error.

Thanks Joram,
I have disabled UAC in Vista, I have uninstalled ww1 complete, also done a full registery sweep clean using Tuneup Utilities 2009, I'm going to try and reinstall game but at the same time make sure that I don't have any other programs running such as anti-virus software, as sometimes they interfere with installing games! Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping it works this time, thanks again for reply.
