Economy

This sequel to the award-winning Crown of Glory takes Napoleonic Grand Strategy to a whole new level. This represents a complete overhaul of the original release, including countless improvements and innovations ranging from detailed Naval combat and brigade-level Land combat to an improved AI, unit upgrades, a more detailed Strategic Map and a new simplified Economy option. More historical AND more fun than the original!

Economy

Post by general_solomon »

Can someone talk about the Economy of the game. I really don't want to have it dumbed down to bring in more of the ETW crowd.

I was wondering if more features are added to the province and the economy as a whole.

I've played Victoria, but like this system better.

There's two economy modes, simple and advanced.  Advanced is fundamentally the same as it was in the original CoG with just some minor tweaking (HS or others who tested this more can elucidate).  If you liked this in CoG, it's still here.

Simple economy is the 'dumbed down' version for those, like myself, who rather focus more on the military and political side.  There's no trade or province sliders or resources other than money and labour.

good to know, please dont take offense to my words(dumbed down). this is does not mean that anyone who plays non-economy version of the game is dumb. I just wanted to make sure they kept the original system and improved upon it.

Its good to have the simple economy for quick games.

how would you or someone else compare the economy system from Victoria to EE.

I didn't take offense, it's true though to be more PC I guess it was 'simplified'.  :)

I haven't played Victoria so can't help you there, sorry.

No offense taken by me, either!

We're likely to release the tutorial videos to YouTube soon, so you'll be able to judge for yourself whether it looks like your thing.

thanks for the replies guys. what up Gil long time no chat.  Dont get me wrong, I've been waiting for this game since it was announced.  I thought i would be playing it on thanksgiving last year.

I am purchasing this game when it comes out.  I am probably getting this before ETW and i am a big total war fan.

Gil: i highly recommend that you folks create a set of youtube videos that goes over all aspects of the game.

example: how to do trades with other nations on the full economy system.  also, setting up optimum settings for the provinces.

dont forget to a long Video AAR.

These videos will help bring those ETW fans to our side.  muuuahhaha

Yeah, we were hoping to have it out last summer, but it took a bit longer. Fortunately, I can say that a good number of the reasons for the delay involved making further enhancements. So even though those blasted ship graphics and the manual were the two major, path-critical road blocks, it's in a way a good thing they weren't done sooner, since they gave us time for a lot more improvements.

A video AAR is not something WCS will be producing, but we'd certainly be glad if some deranged customer with too much time on his hands made one. Editing video is a lot of work, and we need to devote that time to making new products (and patching current ones, of course). But those tutorial videos will certainly help introduce people to the game.
