Ecco....

Welcome to the new war raging across hundreds of light years at once, with mechanized Titans as the main fighting force.

About the EMP bomb.....
It's true that there's a bomb that has got strange effects similar to the ToS EMP-ray.
It should be called BLU114/B (but I'm not sure.... I'm not an expert about bombs) and it was used by NATO, for the first time in a real conflict, during the strike against Serbia (it was the 3rd of may 1999).
It's an explosive device that spreads out into the surrounding environment polverized graphite.
The graphite settles on the electrical cables, and penetrates into the little splits of the equipments inside the pover-plants.
The graphite is a good conductor of electricity, and so it causes a dispersion of electricity from the cables and short-circuits in the electrical equipments inside the power-plants.
This results in a suspension of the electrical supplies (temporary black-outs) and in persistent problems with electrical devices (which don't work) into the area covered by the graphite's dust, until the dust itself is almost removed.
As I said, this weapon has got powerful effects similar to an EMP device, but, physically, it works in a different way in comparison to an EMP-ray (which is a direct-energy weapon).
[So, to say the truth, it's more similar to my NWM vector, than to an hypothetical EMP-pulser]

About the Gauss cannon.....
I don't know anything about such a weapon: probably there are some studies and experiments about it, but I don't know them and I never saw this weapon in action during a real conflict.
So I would like to know something more about it. (I'm speaking sincerely)

About the war.....
My great-grandfather (from my mum'side) was an artilleryman during the first world war.
My grandfather (from my dad's side) was an Alpine trooper during the second world war.
My grandfather (from my mum's side) was an italian secret agent during the second world war.
My dad was a drill sergeant at italian C.A.R. (the training center for recruits) and he was also a tank soldier.
I also did my military service in 1995 as an air-force guard (here in Italy it was obligatory to do the military service until a few years ago when there was the military reform which introduced the voluntary service).
So I don't think I need explanations about war.....

About the NWM vector.....
Well..... it's from the beginning that I'm saying that NWM vector is a "cruise-class" or "tomahawk-class" missile.
I didn't say that thing only in the last post to justify or to balance my weapon.
There are 3 good reasons (and a half :) ) which drove me to think about a big missile, but, as I told in my last post, I don't want to continue to talk about the NWM vector on this forum. If you want we may talk about those reasons privately.

About the democracy.....
I wasn't saying that peoples who don't express their ideas on this forum surely agree with my idea.
On the contrary it was an implicit suggestion to those peoples to post on the forum, to express their ideas.
Moreover, as I noticed on the poll and as I told in my last post, NWM vector has got 3 votes and EMP pulser has got 2 votes.
So I think that the "majority" who likes the EMP pulser should be a little more polite.....
And about the fact that none tried to ridicule or belittle my idea..... well..... I have some doubts about that.....

Guass cannon is essentially a particle accelerator. It uses a powerful magnet to propel an object at extremely high speed [much faster than a cannon].

Rosary has the best explination of the gauss canon. As for war I have never served in the military, I have never been to war, but I have had many vets cry on my shoulder and ask me to forgive them for what they had done and the things they had seen. Just because you have had relitives that were in war and have been in the military does not mean you know about war. I myself do not know about war first hand. My point is this is a game and in games there are rules, in war there are none. Your idea is a good one for real war but is not fair or balanced enough for the game. Oh and the EMP bomb I was talking about is a bomb that has no acttual explosion but is more like a generator that over loads. It does explode a bit but the real effect is the electromagnetic waves it sends out which is similar to the EMP pulse weapon.

BLU-114B

Post by Megrez »

About the EMP bomb you was talking about: I don't know if there is such a bomb, but, to say the truth, I never heard about a "real" bomb with those characteristics.
I tried to find out on the net some informations about it, but I found only some suppositions and theories.
On the contrary I found many informations about the BLU-114B (this is the right name).
It is composed by a cluster (which is called TMD SUU-66/B) which is guided by a GPS-system (like JDAMs). When the cluster is near to its target it releases 202 sub-ammos (the BLU-114Bs). Every BLU-114B has got a device which works as a small parachute and delays the fall of the bomb itself.
During the fall, a small explosive charge scatters in the air polverized graphite and about 1350 filaments made of fiberglass, aluminium and carbon: these things cause the effects I described in another post on this thread.
I found also a nice pic about this bomb, but my scanner is not so good... anyway I hope you will like it :)
