edited 88's XML now cant see 88's or Pak's in game

I tried editing the 88's XML file to include more crew members, using the same crew model but naming them loader1, loader2, etc. I I backed up the old file and put it back in place when the edited file wouldnt display the 88 on the game map. The odd thing was that when I reloaded the same scenario, not a saved game, the flak 88 AND the pak 40 didnt display in the game. So I uninstalled, removed the old folder and reinstalled and still cant see the guns in the game.
Anyone see this before? Is it saving files somewhere else, like in my profile?
