Protectorate?

This sequel to the award-winning Crown of Glory takes Napoleonic Grand Strategy to a whole new level. This represents a complete overhaul of the original release, including countless improvements and innovations ranging from detailed Naval combat and brigade-level Land combat to an improved AI, unit upgrades, a more detailed Strategic Map and a new simplified Economy option. More historical AND more fun than the original!

Protectorate?

Post by Franck »

Hi everyone,

Yet another question :)

In my feeble attemps to keep playing Prussia I have encountered another problem! I'm trying to get all the german minors to become my protectorate but so far it as been a disaster. Anyone as any ideas how I could try to get these guys to ally with me?

I have attempted to send my 2 diplomats there and use Goodwill+charm and just wait for someone to declare war didn't seem to work...

I have attempted to make coup there... but it seems it made them protectorate of someone else... So any help?

What happen if I'm the major power they like the most and I declare war on them?

Thanks

If they like you enough, just park a large army at their border and keep using subsidies and charm. They'll eventually fall. If not, invade.

Move a Diplomat adjacent to the minors in question, and be sure to have the "Show Attitude" Map feature enabled (you can do this by cycling through the "M" button choices at the far right of the button bar). This activates a "Pie chart" graphic on the map that shows the Attitudes politically, that the minors have towards the major powers. As mentioned above, have at least 40,000 troops within a Province or two of the minor(s).

Concentrate your efforts on the one(s) that have the best attitude toward you (purple color of course).

Beware that once you start subsidizing with money, you may start a "bidding war" with other Major Powers - they will compete with you at times, for influence ;-)

One trick to use if you have high Attitude with a minor. It's risky but will work at times. Try to Coup them, they will sometimes ask YOU for Protection from your Coup attempts. Rationale being, they'd rather be your Protectorate than a Conquered Nation. Only try this a couple times, as your Attitude with them will plummet because of your Coup attempts.
