O/T AMD Quad Core vs Intel Quad Core

Looking to update my system either by installing a new motherboard w/cpu and memory or buying a new PC Base Unit.Any ideas whats best re gaming AMD Quad Core or Intel Quad Core ?

For 99% of stuff, no noticeable difference if you buy equivalent performance levels. If I had to make a choice, I'd go with Intel based on personal experience.

From what I have been reading about DirectX and games, AMD does a better job of emulating a single core when the game needs it.  Intel processors have more problems with the cores getting out of sync with DirectX.  It's a relatively rare issue, but it has been reported.

AMD processors tend to be a little cheaper for the same performance level, and are otherwise equivalent to Intel processors.  I have 4 computers operational, all with AMD and I'm happy with them.

I believe Intel processors do run a little cooler.

MHz to MHz, AMD has consistently outperformed Intel but the new quad core processers are about even on the benchmarks...
