Further Bug & possible upgrade

Post by DEB »

Noted from recent post:-

Also there is a bug whereby any ship in a port that is captured "warps" back to Tokyo or PH instead of being scuttled [:-]

This is ridiculous !! . Surely this NEEDS fixing!

Also noted, same source:-

Aircraft in UV do not drop torps against ships in port. Only introduced in WITP I'm afraid.

Given this happened at PH ( hence WITP I presume ) why was it missed in UV. [:(]
Can this not be patched in ?[&o]

The bugs & errors known/reported to date must be worth a new patch by now ( aside of the 2.50 patch )! [&o][&o][&o] PLEASE !!

Yo are right in what you say DEB, but unfortunately this game is far too long in the tooth now for Matrix to justify introducing new features into it.....although the ships in port issue should have been fixed long ago.

Play testing of the Beta needs more participants and time in the future, both of which won't happen because of ecomics.  If programming this buggy was sold of a company I'm sure that it would get attention pronto if any future business was hoped for regardless of if it was brought to attention in 2 weeks, 2 months or whatever.  HINT! HINT!

I never thought that doing an AAR would be so time consuming and difficult.

I'm not that far into a 2.50 game but do we still have a never ending supply of obsolote planes like TBD Devastators ?
AFAIK there were only 129 of them produced up to 1939 so where do this replacement TBD's (10/month, proably without end date) come from ?
WitE dev team - (aircraft data)
WitE 1.08+ dev team (data/scenario maintainer)
WitW dev team (aircraft data, partial data/scenario maintainer)
WitE2 dev team (aircraft data)

It's obviously unlikely that anything was ever fixed in UV re the bugs referred to in this thread, as Mr Wood did not have a pre-bug save to work with, and we all know that this is a must ( from the man himself ), for any fix. So much for his reply ( as worded ).

I'll be magnanimous and consider that Mr Wood was confused, and really meant that he had fixed something in CF rather than UV. Maybe he has it stored somewhere for an eventual UV patch.

Just in case he has not, if anyone has ( or can generate ) a pre-bug save for the bugs referred to, can they please forward to Mr Wood. Thanks.
