Where to put new scenarios?

Post by arkansasbob »

Greetings to all; I have just upgraded my COTA to version 3.4.151. At the same time, I
downloaded the new African updates, and the 5 user mods. My problem is that I cannot find
any written info on HOW to install these mods in the actual game. Some of the 5 user
mods, like "the Valley" have a whole pile of seperate files in the winzip package that
I downloaded. Some of these files are maps, and other stuff that I don't understand.
So, my question is "where do I find instructions on exactly how to install these
files in COTA, where do they go in the game, and how do you get them in there? I freely
admit that I am not a modder, and have no skill in doing this stuff. But since I have
upgraded the whole game, I thought I would include the latest scenarios that were
available. Many thanks in advance to those who take the time to respond--I really
appreciate it. BobL.

If you look inside your COTA game folder you will see several sub-directories or folders. You need to put Maps ( files with the suffic ".aam" ) in the Maps directory; scenarios ( ".aas" ) in the Scenarios directory and Estabs ( ".aae" ) in the Estabs directory. Map graphic mods consist of two or three ".bmp" files  ( MapKey.bmp, MapPat.bmp and MapPatA.bmp ). These go in their own folder within the Graphics\Map directory.
