Help with Strat Map Flags

Is there anyway to turn off the waving flags and just have static flag icons on the strat map? They seem to wave at about two cycles a second on my machine, and on the second cycle seem to wave twice as quickly as on the first. I actually had to stop playing as I found it very hard to focus on the screen. Finger crossed because the game looks great, much more streamlined than the first version.

This is possible to mod (I tested it).
But the procedure is somewhat cumbersome.
The animations run through 10-12 different images of flags and another 10-12 flags states and if you make these images and states exactly the same the flag won't move on screen.
The animation will still run of course, but as it skips through 10-12 versions of the same image you won't notice it.

It would be much better, though, if there was a way to just turn the animation code off. That might also help with other things, like lag ...

I could make such a mod for you, if you're burning for it.

Or what about skipping every other animation (making the 2nd the same as the first, the fourth the same as the 3rd etc)...the animation would "jump" slightly, but probably not very noticable...that way you get your animation, but with half the processing
