Supplies by Sub

Post by BullHalsey »

 Has anybody given any thought how to allow the Japanese to use subs to re-supply bases (as was done historically)?

Its one of those things that's in the manual but doesn't work. You can't put a sub in a cargo or transport TF and I don't think the subs have a "capacity" either, so its a no can do for Pac War, but hopefully will be included in WITP. By the way, the US also used subs for small scale emergeny resupply, especially in the Phillipines early on, because that was the only was to get anything there.

Are you sure it's in the manual, Ranger-75? I don't remember anything like that, and my scan of the ship types available to carry supplies (bottom of p. 23) does not show any SS ships. But it is a good idea, although actually likely to help the Allies more. (At last, a use for the wimpy coastal submarines.)
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

I couldn't find this in my manual either. Its a nice dea but might be a little much for this game. Was glad to see it in UV though.

I think it was in the PWHINTS.doc file. I'm too lazy to look through the manual to see if there's anything in there' because even if there is, we can't do it.

The reference to supplying by submarine was in PWhints; however, the original PW manual indicates that subs do have a cargo capacity. I-176 & RO classes have a capacity of "2" and the I-400 class has a capacity of "5" while all the US subs have a capacity of "2".
