Cavalry Reinforcement?

This sequel to the award-winning Crown of Glory takes Napoleonic Grand Strategy to a whole new level. This represents a complete overhaul of the original release, including countless improvements and innovations ranging from detailed Naval combat and brigade-level Land combat to an improved AI, unit upgrades, a more detailed Strategic Map and a new simplified Economy option. More historical AND more fun than the original!

Post by Tanaka »

Can anyone tell me why my infantry is filling up with men but not my cavalry? I have plenty of horses...

Replacements for cav, artillery and guard come in at quarter (or is it half, don't have rules in front of me) of regular infantry I believe so that may be part of what you are seeing.

Yes, absolutely it does.  If you see a unit you think is a guard getting as many as other infantry, then the unit may not actually be a guard but just very high morale.

Ok well theres a little weirdness with Guards right now from what Im seeing in games. Reference my comments in other threads. I believe certain rules with Guards may not be working correctly or may not have carried over from COG to COG:EE but is still referenced in the manual.

Anyone else having the same problem of the two irregular cavs Spain starts out with never filling up? Is the only way to fill to tranfer men from one to the other and disband the empty unit?

I've played Spain and those units have received reinforcements. Are you sure they are in supply?

Well, I can confirm that guards get replacements.  In my current game, my guard unit has 8,999 men.  My readiness is set at 9.  The unit started the game with 5,000 something, I think.

It takes a long time with guards, but it happens.

So does this mean you only get reinforced is if you are in or next to a Supply Depot? So you do not get reinforced while Foraging?

I think there is a priority for reinforcements.  This is those in supply, either by depot or in a city, get reinforced first, then those who forage.  I also think the foraging replacement rate is much less.  But my memory may be wrong about replacements for foraging units.

In practice, I always assume that only those in a city or in a depot will receive replacements.  Every so often, I move depleted units back to a city just for that purpose.  To do that, I transfer men from one unit to another to partially fill one and make the other ready for R&R in Munich, or whatever.  After things settle down after the first year or so and my draftees become much more plentiful, I just let nature take it's course and only move units to a city when I get one creamed in battle.

Hmm I never knew that about putting units in cities. As depots are so expensive I will try that instead thanks!

As far as the foraging goes I played months and months and my spanish cavalry never filled up with men at all...
