Advanced Economy Question

Post by Marshall Thomas »

How does the advanced economy of Emperor's Edition differ from the economy of the original CoG? I haven't played Emperor's Edition yet. Thanks in advance

No difference. Advanced economy is the economic system of the original game.

Well, actually it isn't.  The interface looks pretty much the same, but there are hard coded differences that will make the advanced economy much more realistic.  For example, in COG, the labor allocation sliders were linear.  In other words, if you had 50 points (actually, percent of available labor to allocate), you might get 8 iron.  If you pushed that to 75, you would get 12.  (25 is half of 50 and 4 is half of 8, so 25 + 50 = 75 and 4 + 8 = 12.)

There is a law of diminishing returns with the sliders now.  In the above example, you wouldn't go from 8 to 12.  It might be 8 to 10 instead.

There are some subtle other differences as well, but suffice it to say that while it is ALMOST the same, there are some meaningful differences.

I believe the trade routes have had a major overhaul as well, from what Ive seen, as well as the way merchants and privateers work in COG:EE, but may be mistaken.

I'm not exactly sure what the formula is anymore, but it's certainly not a linear relationship like it was in COG.
