randomness

Post by elgato607 »

just wondering if it was possible to take a stock senario and make it random? i havent started using the editor at all and dont want to waste my time. i just need to know if its possible to make units showing up a random variable. for instance...there's a 60% chance that some air unit will be there at the start of the game or not...

thanks =)

reason y i ask is becuase i'm not much of a historian buff when it comes to world war II, and there is a limited number of senario's so for me, it would be nice if i could go into a senario and see or not see units to add a strategic variance for me...

again...thanks =)

it is a design feature of WITP

there is a player switch used when selecting preferences before a game begins

you may set either rigid appearance per the scenario OB or random dates plus or minus a few days around those dates

The options are fixed

variable + - 15 days

extremely variable + - 60 days

right, i've seen that, but that covers reinforcements from what i understand. this would be a variable for something to actually have the chance to not show at stat or does. for example, i place a carrier in the game...then i have the option to make it available at the start 100% of the time, or 40% of the time. meaning that you can start the senario, and either see that carrier at a base...or if i use the 40% variable...it has a 40% chance of showing up when you start the senario...

There is no easy way to get there from here - it is easier to edit the scenario. One sort of has that in RHS - in that any given level permits you to pick already edited scenarios: thus if you want Shinano as a BB you play a BBO family scenario - or as a CV a CVO family scenario - or the abilty to get it as a BB but convert to a CV - than an EOS family scenario. But it is all decided up front - not on a % basis.

In CVO family in particular many ships ARE under player control - if you don't want them to convert - you simply don't let them upgrade.

More than that - I don't know how to get there short of manipulating a save game file or writing a utility to modify the ship file. Easier to just edit the file as you want it for this game.
