Tool for editing pictures in AAR?

Hi,
I admit so far I have for my AAR posts just done some basic editing of pictures (like cut and paste). So I am wondering if anybody who has more experience here can recommend a tool for better editing of pictures?

Did not wrote any AAR before, but I'm preparing one, working with SnagIt 9. But it's not free... Only a 30 days trial. I bought one before the end of trial!

Gimp for editing, Print Key Pro for screen dumps and so on. I also use MS Paint for some crude stuff.
History began July 4th, 1776. Anything before that was a mistake.
