Air transport problem, No ChezDaJez please

Post by bradfordkay »

Let me put in some filler here... lalalalalalala

Oooops, not enough filler.....

how about now?

I have a strange situation that has developed with the 503rd US Parachute Regt. I had it based at Coen, planning on using it in an invasion of Merauke, but never needed it for that attack. So, instead I used a C-46 TOG (64 a/c) to move them over to Daly Waters, from which I will drop them on Wyndham. Now the distance from Coen to Daly Waters was far too great for a single hop, so I first transported them to Cloncurry, then to Tennant Creek and finally to Daly Waters.

Here is the weird situation that has come up. On the hop from Coen to Cloncurry, one of the 75mm pack howitzers would not load. The Regt finished transferring from Coen to Cloncurry and the TOG switched to carrying supplies. I tried for several more days to get it to carry that gun to Cloncurry to no avail.

Then all squads and pack howitzers were transferred by air to Tennant Creek, but now one of the 75mm pack howitzers refuses to load for Daly Waters. The rest of the regiment is in DW, ready for their combat jump - but now two (of a total of 16) 75mm pack howitzers have been left behind at various stops. Neither gun is disabled, nor did this happen at every stop.

Has anyone ever experienced this?

It isn't going to stop the combat jump, but I hate having unit fragments scattered around my map.

Maybe it's a farewell gift from one of the GI's to a beautiful young Aussie girl ?[;)]

Are the guns disabled ?  I've had problems transporting lone disabled elements.

i've seen this issue before. Having to dredge my memory but it involves the load cost of the device and restrictions on transport aircraft regarding the max size of a device that can be loaded.

That shouldn't be the case here, since the other 14 pack howitzers were transported just fine. In both cases it is a single gun out of many of the very same type that just refuses to load.

yes.......its a bug because it wasn't always consistant. Once i was able to transport a whole armored division, tanks included......next test, it disallowed it.
